6 transformations? Really? What are they?

I wonder too. Think warpy's insider knowledge should be revealed. huh.png

Now now T/A lets not regress, sorry though I thought it was obvious and common knowledge that F1 has not began a season for virtually the last decade in the same light as it ended the previous one either with major rules changes or some other political or contractual changes including race venues.. That's transformations..

Since the definition of transformations seems to be an obstacle here I've included the defination for you..

Well, tried in vain to get a cut and paste of the proper definition and not the abbreviated one posted above but some weird things going on with my Internet lately so here's the link instead..

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/transformations?s=t

Just a few examples:

-Tire rules/suppliers.

-Engine rules..

-Aero rules.

-Venue changes..

-KERS on again off again on again.

-Engine sizes and displacement falls under engine rules but being more specific..

-Not 2 years in a row has the rules applied with minor to no changes..

Where nearly EVERY other professional race series makes few to no changes for multiple seasons and remain stable, Bernie has no clue as to what "stable" actually means and makes significant changes at a whim just because he can which also includes contracts of other services such as TV coverage..

BTW Just so there's no confusion I'm not saying I agree with his claims about how it was before in 2003 either, just making a point as I know for certain from MY insiders who I give far more credibility then some new nik on an Internet forum, the local networks have had contracts for the coverage for at least the last 20 years whether he worked there or not? coffee1.gif I guess he wasn't in on the pertinent details.. He can change my mind though with something more substantial then just HIS claims of working there and knowing the inner workings of the ACTUAL network coverage contracts..

I was talking about changes to the way it was broadcast, not the rules and regs of tne sport.

Whilst I can understand you may be doubting my authenticity, how can I prove it? Do you live in Trang? I can show you my F1 pass, has my picture and the department i worked in - as well as being signed by Schumachet and Barrichello.

Anyway when i was there the tv was run at 'Bakersville' so named after Eddie Baker. This village was where all the feeds came from. There was Host, which was the terrestrial feed, then Super Channel - which was a mixture of Channel 1 (the leaders) channel 2 (further down the field, the pitlane channel and 4 obc channels.

Bar the host feed, all the channels were directed by F1 staff that went to all the races. The host feed varied from having a local company direct to having it done in house.

The camera positions were all chosen by an in house director. Well, when i say director, the programme almost directs it self as they had an ACS (automated cutting system) that automatically cuts the cameras, the director just picks the driver to follow.

Oh, and the on board laps that you may have watched through 2000 - 2002 were most likely chosen by me.

Bernie is very guarded about his footage of F1 and any footage that is shot at the circuit would have to be dubbed and the copies sent to his company in Biggin Hill in Kent. This is where we used to fly from on his private jet to go to the European races.

I'm not trying to argue with you warp, I'm just saying how it used to be.

Let me know who your insiders are - I might know them, or say who they work for?

I wasn't talking about changes to it's broadcasts specifically nor anything else I was talking about general changes to the series as a whole which also may include the broadcasts and that should have been quite evident..

Thank you for confirming what my very first post said..It's a pool feed by the local broadcasting networks (host feed as mentioned) and not F1, only merely distributed and produced by F1..

BTW I have stacks of credentials, licenses, pit passes, team passes for numerous professional series I've both been personally competing in and supporting various positions within the sport bet it official or private..

I have to say though not so many autographs as I both respected the drivers privacy and also never placed too many of them up on fanatic pedestals as I saw them merely as competitors not much more talented then myself only more fortunate to have had their opportunity either by someone else's support (mostly a family friend) or their own family funding.. Thinking back now considering the multitude of autographs across several pro series and not just F1 I could have and a serious collection to be coveted I probably should have reconsidered doing that..

You might want to pay attention the next time the commentator says that they have no control over the pictures being displayed so can't replay a given event that happens on track which wouldn't be the case if F1 was actually both controlling/producing and distributing the feed, the booth commentators would be able to make requests for replays if that were the case..

Anyway it was an enjoyable race and that'll be the last bit of one-ups-man-ship for me on the topic of who actually broadcasts the events..

I would never make note of my insiders, would you? You may be that foolish but I'm not. Besides the obvious name dropping you may very well know them if what you say is true and that's a sensible enough reason for me to keep it confidential isn't it? Otherwise I'd might as well just post my full identity up here instead of my nik..

You're not arguing with me just trying to discredit my information and that's enough reason for me to defend against that action when I know better..

Wow Warp, how did you come to think that i am trying to discedit you? I though we were having a conversation online, you know giving different experiences......

Well, about me paying attention to commentators, can you point out where i have stated the commenators have contact with the directors???

Thanks for the foolish comment aswell, you are correct i am a fool. I should know better than to give my experiences online thinking i could have a conversation with people that have the same interests as me. You're right everyone is full of bs and i am a postman. That it from me on the subject, I didnt realise is was a competition.

Is it just me or do you guys find Matthew Marsh's commentary a bit like Steve Slater's? i.e. very irritating. I much prefer Mark Gallagher and Tim Harvey.

Great qualifying session yesterday too. Schu may well spring a surprise!

Amazingly comprehension deficient some "educated" people can be or it's just plain denial in order to create havoc I don't know which?..

All I'm going to say is I never called you a fool, but you take it how you wish to I guess as it seems you bent and twisted the entire discussion including my first post just for the purpose of creating a conflict in spite of your denials to the contrary..

Yes he was and as usual, always comments in a calm, well informed manner.

Bring back the days of a monster V8, a stick shift, where a driver became a real driver. IF it ever happened l would be a spectator. Me, don't want to know about what the computer does, what the team manager says over the intercom, just want to know about what the driver does with his non push button tools. drunk.gif

Karun does do a good job he was quite good again today correcting all of Slaters miscues, can't believe I'm saying this which should magnify how much I despise Slater but I like Marsh much better too anyway good to have some driver input for a change...

Great race and fantastic for Sergio and Sauber, for a change it was Ferrari actually benefiting from that old equalizer in the form of rain and though Sergio got to second on strategy he held his own for the race even in the drier conditions, good for him. His engineer should keep his trap shut in the future though and let him drive..

When it began to race I thought sure it was going to be Schumie's day but he got a poor start or maybe Grosjean got a great start but in any case he ended up over-driving his car and taking out Schumie unlucky for him..

Warp, i see you are a last word hero like myself. You think i would be foolish to name insiders. What are insiders? Are they just someone who works there? Its not like they get information that cannot be public knowledge, its not area 51 is it?

All i was trying to point out at the begining is that the footage you see is the same be it in Thailand, America, England or Australia. Although Sky in England now has a different set up now I believe. The same as what Germany and a few other countries had until the end of 2002, where the viewer at home has a selection of channels to chose from.

Back in the day, the best way to watch F1 was without commentary and follow the track footage with the timing screen. That way you could find out who was catching who, outlap, inlap times etc.

Anyway, I guess everyone was suprised at todays result. Well done to Alonso and Perez.

Steve Slater is great......he helps make an otherwise dull sport, based almost entirely on strategy of changing of tires, seem exciting...

Well to some extent you have a point, I find myself at first screaming and then laughing at the TV constantly correcting him when he says "Vettel just passed on the outside for the position" when in reality Vettel is four positions further back and would have had to jump those four and his team mate in less then 2 corners to be anywhere even close to making such a move, miraculous!

So if you look for comedy from a court jester when you tune into an F1 race he's definitely your man..
