I'm staying on turist visa right now and I would like to enroll in a study I've been in contact with thai school they told me that in order to get a ed visa I would have to go outside the country for around 1 day so I've called to company wich arrange the trip to cambodia to help me out with that they said I need to stay around 4 days otherwise i might have a problem to get ed visa. I'm a bit confused right now... how many days do I have to stay outside Thailand to get ed visa at the border?

and do you think 9200baht it is expensive for 4days trip back and forth to thailand including hotel?

I appreciate your answers.

You cannot get Visas at a border. You have to visit a Thai Consulate in another country and that would take a few days.

Have the school given you the necessary paperwork to apply?

The school will need to provide you with appropriate paperwork, to do that the school will also need to be approved and registered.

As stated Visas are issued by Thai Consulates.

Actually they do get the visa staying just across the border in a hotel and having someone take it to PP for issue - but this is a very bad plan as often there are problems obtaining the visa and people are stuck in hotel for a week or more waiting and without passport - very bad situation to be in. As Cambodia Thai Consulate is extremely unfriendly for visa issue would highly advise avoiding them (yes it normally takes 4 days for issue there). Go to Vientiane or Savannakhet in Laos or Malaysia if closer and use the next day service that is normal at Thai Consulates. You are aware that if this study is brief you can do on your normal tourist visa entry - and ED visa is not required for study.

ok thanks for the advice, anyway can you recomend any reliable company which provides a service helping with the trip and ed visa from Laos?

You do not need any company as you just cross the border and visit the Consulate (within a short drive). Easy to find hotel rooms and most people do themselves. The normal visa services in Bangkok do provide a van service a few times a week but much easier to fly to Udon or take train or vip bus to Nong Khai for most people.

You can get a vip 24 seat bus to Nong Khai for 700 baht.

From there get a tuk tuk to 'visa services' for 100 baht

They'll sort u out with coffee, dollars for your Laos visa (be REALLY nice to the Laos visa givers!!) , a lift through the border and drop you at the Thai consulate in Vienntiane

Get a number from the machine as soon as you get in and relax.

Give in paperwork and smile and be friendly. If theres anything amiss, just be nice!! Imagine how many idiots these people see every day.

Wait until the next morning, 100 baht tuk tuk back to the consulate. Pre-arrage with oldest taxi possible to go back to border (200 baht) Pick up visa.

Taxi to border (dont take any shit, sharing or whatever.. 200 baht is all

Check out of Laos. Hop on the bus over the bridge.

Check into Thailand.

Look for another tout with car and pay 100 baht to go to train station.

Buy ticket for 600 baht and wait till 6pm ish...

Get on train

Wake up in Bkk.

can I get a Laos entry visa for those 2 days crossing Lao's border ?

Make a phone call to the consulate in Vientiane first.

Last year they told me that they would only handle tourist visas. Had to go to Penang.
