Best Topic, Post Or Character On Thaivisa..........

theblether

Recommended Posts

I recently started a thread asking about the best topics, posts and characters on Thaivisa, and many members took the time to put forward suggestions. It was interesting to hear from Ulysses G and tutsiwarrior, who have both been members since 2003, and they regretted the fact that many contributions from those days have now been lost, tutsi maybe less so as apparently he was quite a sensitive soul back then, what happened to you tutsi?? biggrin.png

Anyway, I was chatting to a new member the other day and he said he could be doing with some pointers to the best subjects, so that gave me the idea to refresh the list for easy reference. If you have any suggestions feel free to add them to the topic, and where possible give us a link too, or at least as much information as you can and I will try to find it.

Many of the OP's have moved on to pastures new, so what I've done is list the members name that suggested the topic first, and where relevant I have included a little bit of background information.

There is an excellent mix of humour, wind ups, pathos, information, and just superb input by many people, I hope you enjoy this chance to see some of these classics again, and all going to plan I will revisit and refresh the topic every couple of months so that new members can get to see the real quality of Thaivisa and old members can reminisce.

Remember.........the name you see is the member that recommended the thread...........

OldCroc..........This topic, the night Wes Turner and Uma~~ got together.

http://www.thaivisa....__fromsearch__1

Wes was a champion jet skier who invented a sidecar for a jetski. Many thought this ridiculous idea was real.

Uma~~ was an exotic model from London and a strong feminist. http://www.thaivisa....user/25516-uma/

It later transpired that both Wes and Uma~~ were a figment of the weird imagination of a banned poster. The Gentleman Scamp!

The story of the affair was given credence by another well respected member, a friend of Scampys, who was in on the joke from the start.

thanks for this theblether, i remember many of those posts. those were fun days. i joined in 2003 too but gave up on Thaivisa the past several years as a protest against the editorial bent the site had taken on, it became way too political....

been visiting again recently and i feel like a newbie again.

Good to see you thedude.........OldCroc get's the credit for sending us your way, and I think it's high praise to yourself and many others that you made an impression that lasted.

It's been my delight to read through the old threads, the quality of humour and information contained within is outstanding. I'm only a member like everybody else but I personally find some of the bitterness and trolling hard to watch on our forums.

So I reckon a lot more positive and helpful information from some of our absolutely outstanding contributors, combined with plenty of humour and pathos will encourage even more characters to make an appearance. Happy days for all.!!

ps Thanks for the birthday wishes 23.03.66, so that makes me 46 today, with a mental age of 6.......sounds about right biggrin.png

OP -- if you've got time, dig out a thread started about 7-8 years ago by GENTLEMAN SCAMP.

It was one of the most popular threads ever posted on this forum.

The guy (GENTLEMAN SCAMP) met a girl in Sukhumwit Road, Bangkok. He fell in love with her and took her to Hua Hin.

He then announced that their relationship was doomed. If I remember correctly, he said that the relationship would end in 19 days.

And so -- for the next 19 days -- he gave a detailed account of everything. The viewing figures were extraordinary.

On the final day, he segmented the BREAK UP into something like this

1. 9pm ......

2. 10pm .........

3. 11pm ............

The overall build up was very good. He was actually quite a good writer.

If it's of interest, I came across him again recently on another Thailand-related forum called TEAK DOOR. But it seems that he has amounted to nothing. To be honest, he is a loser.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Check out too the GREAT Dr Pat Pong. He moderated this forum back in 2000. What happened to him?

Back then, this forum was very different and much smaller.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Also check out a very clever troll called HARRY PALMER. That would have been back in about 2004.

Thanks very much gerrygoat.......that thread is fascinating. I managed to get halfway through the macb thread "Do You Live In a Village ", again fascinating and at times hysterical. I'll read the rest of it later this week.

Anyone else have a recommendation?

Happy birthday equinoctial boy

you might have mistaken me for "The Dude", a popular member known for his habbit of referring to himself in the 3rd person. It was annoying that he took the same moniker so we got mixed up occassionally although our interests were on different areas. i remember a rather prolific ladyboy member (can't recall her name) who was also a practicing vet, anyone remember her?

Can't have been 2000 as the forum was started in 2002... but, yes, DrPP was an admin back then, and up until quite recently, until he was relieved of his duties back in February 2010. Since he was stripped of his admin role he hasn't posted since.
