Please don't tell me that you pronounce the 'T' in "often"... Or, do you?
Dear Folks, What is happening to this world of Social Media, not to mention the perversion of the English language, that..... These days: There is an increasing number of illiterate speakers of English who pronounce the T in the simple word OFTEN....??? What is going on here? If you have been alive for the past few decades, then you might know. For example, even today, Google Translate does NOT pronounce the T. But, then why is this happening, today....meaning..... Are there just too many non-native English speakers who are diluting, warping, and perverting the English language, mostly via.... Social Media? Every time I hear some weirdo from the "Global South" trying to utter simple words, like OFTEN, and mispronouncing it....I .... Just want to die. I mean: The guys from the Global South say..... ofTen ofTen ofTen.....!!!!!!!!! How many more times do we need to listen to these people before we retreat to a cave, somewhere.....??? Because, for sure.... The number of these culturally illiterate guys invading our language, warping it, and perverting it..... Is rapidly increasing. We are losing our entire culture, just through having our English language watered down...all over the world....and Especially in Singapore, where they speak, mostly, Singlish. What can be done? Man Crushed to Death by Collapsing Wall at Abandoned Rice Mill in Ayutthaya
Pictures from responders. A 59-year-old man was killed after a concrete wall collapsed on him while he was attempting to salvage metal from an abandoned rice mill in Ayutthaya province. The incident occurred at approximately 18:00 on 7 April in Bang Sai District. Rescue workers from the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Foundation, Bang Sai unit, were alerted to the scene where a man had reportedly been crushed to death by a falling concrete wall. Upon arrival, authorities found the lifeless body of a man pinned beneath a heavy slab of concrete and blocks. He was later identified as Mr. Chaliew, a resident of Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Initial investigations suggest that the victim had been breaking apart sections of concrete in the disused rice mill, likely in an effort to extract metal reinforcement rods. During this process, a section of the concrete wall unexpectedly collapsed, fatally crushing him. Police from Bang Sai Police Station, along with an on-duty physician, conducted an initial examination at the scene. The body was then transferred to Bang Sai Hospital for a formal autopsy. Authorities are now working to locate the victim’s family so that funeral arrangements can be made. -- 2025-04-09 -
