Poll: Which Cabinet-approved project will most help Phuket?

PHUKET: At this week's highly-publicized 'mobile Cabinet' meeting in Phuket, a number of projects were approved for Phuket and other provinces in the Andaman economic development cluster.

In the latest on-line Readers' Poll, the Gazette asks which of six projects approved for Phuket will do the most to help the resort province?

The candidates are:

– 'Monkey cheek' Reservoirs to supply Phuket City Municipality Waterworks: 25 million baht

– A Water Pipeline from Baan Bangjo to Phuket International Airport: 24.8 million baht

– Marine navigation lighting system improvements: 17.30 million baht

– Development of the Baan Phraya Wichit Songkram historical site in Srisoonthorn: 9.1 million baht

– Improvements to Chao Fa East Road: 20 million baht

– Radar speed cameras to monitor traffic and automatically fine violators: 17 million baht

I thought they also approved underpasses & the connecting road over the mangrove to Saphan Hin (the road which was built many years ago but not completed & IMO was part of the plan for a huge convention/business/shopping centre to be built on reclaimed land proposed by an ex premier).

I see the traffic cams are winning the poll. Thailand doesn't have the ability to make this work. Better train some cops on what their job really entails and get them off their lazy asses and do some traffic control with their new shiny cars. Crack down on MOVING violations. Put a couple of the smarter cops at intersections where the locals make one or two turning lanes into four turning lanes. Chase down these deadly vans and buses and green plate airport taxi punks...

Not rocket science.
