Hey all, did some searching and found some good info but not sure so I thought I would ask.

I want to fly from the US to Spain and have my Thai GF meet me there for a 2 week holiday. I think I will get her a ticket from BKK to Frankfurt then on to BCN. Does she need to apply for a Shengen Visa with Germany or Spain? I think we will probably visit both countries and maybe Italy as well.

If Germany is the first point in Europe, even for a plane change ending in Shengen country do you pass immigration there?

Just wondering what the best way is for her to go about getting a Visa.

If it helps....she already has a 10 year multi entry US Visa, a tourist Visa for Japan, and multiple stamps in her passport for trips to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and USA. Plenty of money in the bank, owns home and long work history for large multi nationals in BKK.

Thanks!

She should apply at the Consulate for the country of her main destination, if she's not able to say a main destination, ie she's touring, then she should apply at the Consulate for the country where she first enters Schengen.

Given her personal circumstances, as you describe, I suspect that wouldn't have a problem but they will want to see evidence of her proposed stay, evidence of travel in and out of Schengen and travel insurance, and of course she will need to prove that the trip is affordable.

Thanks Old Git. Thinking Germany may be the best bet then...I have friends in DE we may stay with and can provide any info from that as well. Are some EU countries more liberal than others when it comes to this?
