Chiang Mai Immigration Songkran Holiday Dates?

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know the dates when the immigration office in Chiangmai will be closed during the songkran period?

13, then the weekend, then Monday 16 as a compensation holiday. Not sure about Tuesday 17, this may be an additional compensation day.

If you're due in that time, I would do it beforehand.

Any ideas whether we lose days by extending early? My TV extension is due on the 16th.

No, we do not, at least not for the retirement visa.

Thanks, the same rules probably apply. rolleyes.gif

Went there today and I am pretty sure it is closed tomorrow Friday 6th April and only opens again on 18th April!

Not 100% sure, but the GF said that's what it said on the screens in there today.

I was quite surprised myself.

I think that it is closed for the Royal that died as well as for Songkran.

Hello UG... Hope you are doing well.

The official holidays on the main Immigration web site does indicate just as you mention. It does not say anything about closing from today until the 18th. I sure hope not... I have to get my 90 report straight.. and I think I may have found the problem.

According to that link, it looks like Immigration is open 10,11 and 12 April. I hope so for your sake. wai.gif

Note that the link is for 2011 not 2012.

Note that the top of the page says 2011, however, the dates and weekdays coincide with 2012 I think.

7:30 this morning and already 127 people on the waiting list to get a ticket ....... to wait....

I wonder what time they start the pre-ticket sign-in sheet?

Breezed in at 2:30 for the usual 90-day report in and out.

Rude surprise. The place was absolutely crammed full of people (lots of Burmese), and the queue ticket machine was closed for the day.

Don't know whether to go back tomorrow or wait. If they're closed on the 17th, I'll miss the grace period by one day.
