I am US citizen that will be entering LOS from Iraq and I do not have the ability to aquire LOS visa here prior to entry. Can I go straight from airport to BKK consutate and get a 90 visa? If so, what do I need to take with me for this process? I am new to this web site and these forums and I am so glad that I have found you. I am looking at possible LOS retirement after a 90 day fact finding trip and then I will have to go to the states for a while before making the big move back to LOS. Thanks in advance for all your help.

There is no Consulate inside Thailand for Thailand so you will only receive the normal 30 day visa exempt entry. Now if you wish to immediately apply for one year retirement and can open an account with 800k baht here or supply Embassy letter of 65k per month income within the first two weeks of your 30 day entry you can convert to non immigrant 90 day entry and then extend for one year after 60 days. Otherwise you will have to depart Thailand to apply for a visa from a Consulate in Laos/Cambodia/Malaysia/or other place and return on that.

When you enter Thailand you will get a "visa exempt" entry stamp which is valid for 30 days. Near the end You will have to travel to a consulate in a neighboring country to apply far a tourist visa. That will give you another 60 days upon reentry which can be extended for another 30 days at immigration (1900 baht)

As said a 12 Month Extension from Immigration if you meet the financial requirements.

Or a Visit to a Thai Consulate in a neighbouring Country to apply for a Visa.
