I had the idea the other day of driving my Ford Transit from London to Thailand. I could fly back to London, then hit the road and drive back to Thailand. Some countries could be a bit dodgy, I thought. So with the help of Google Gemini, I asked the question. Safest route to drive from London to Thailand. Reply came back, and I thought maybe not !! -

Except for the tiny detail that PCR tests are literally the gold standard in virus detection. Two globetrotting German teenagers had their travel plans upended when they were denied entry to the U.S. and detained by border officers who called their trip “suspicious,” according to a report. Charlotte Pohl, 19, and Maria Lepère, 18. were interrogated in Honolulu International Airport for hours and allegedly subjected to body scans and strip searches before, finally, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents denied them entry to the country and said they would be deported, according to the outlet. ”They found it suspicious that we hadn't fully booked our accommodations for the entire five weeks in Hawaii,” Pohl said. “We wanted to travel spontaneously. Mae Hong Son loop twice
This is a road I'm very interested in. Starts at 200m up to 1400 and some wide 1200m regions on top which is very rare, maybe the largest 1200+ area in Thailand. Problem is it's hard to get to for most people. Between Phitsanulok and Phetchabun. Long drive from Chiang Mai and you'd need to stay a couple nights. That 40k stretch is top of list of places to bike. Looks like you gain some good elevation and stay up there for quite a while. Looks epic.
