i can't say what it is like to Mae sariang but from mae sariang to MHS the road is good but slightly boring. From chiang mai it is best to go through Pai to MHS.. i have done the circular road and it is a long way back anticlockwise but it is a good road. I can't see any problem from Tak to Mae Sariang as all these roads are good. Stop off in Mae Sariang. It is a lovely place..very relaxed... try to go though Pai on the way back if you can..pretty boring to go back the same route..

I have done it 3 times in the last 2 years

It is very beautiful and hardly any cars, trucks, or even motorcycles will be seem

you did not say how you will go? Car truck, or Motorbike

Fuel and services in some areas can be very lmited to say the least

On a bike it is fun. road conditions are very poor in areas, and the raod is very narrow in areas too. I would never take my car, Would think twice about my truck. and have taken my bike, both larger and small that way

give yourself about twice the time you would think it will take to go this way

What part of the road is narrow or bad? I did the Mae Sariang to MHS road about 6 years ago.....the road was perfect..better than the CM to MHS via Pai road... but longer... I can't see how it got narrower...do you mean the Tak - Mae Sariang road? That bit I have never been on....
