Hi I recently recieved a non B visa and am working for a language school. They are in the process of obtaining the work permit now. After I get the work permit i am to understand I then get a different , "permanent one year non B. Is my non B now only valid for 3 months? This one cannot be renewed correct?. I ask because they want to transfer me now and I'm not sure if i want to go to a new location. If I get the work permit and other? non B visa, will I be able to use the non B for a year? Even if I leave that company? Thanks

Currently you are working illegally, as you don't ahve a work permit.

Right now you have a permisison to stay of 90 days, which with the WP and paperwork from the school can be extended for 1 year, every year, by immigration. When you are on an extension of stay from immigration, when you stop working you must cancel the work prmit and cancel your permisison to stay the same day and leave the country, or get a 7 day extension for 1,900 baht. That means 7 days to get a new employer and a work eprmit or leave the country.

So if you change employer right now, you can stay in Thailand till your 90 days are over and try to get a WP with the new employer before that date and extend at immirgation based on your new employer.

Thanks, What happens if you don't cancel your visa? the same day huh? 7 days? wow. Hey do you know if it is possible to still use the b visa and report that you have the same job ( yeah I know lying to immigration, oh my). I know this is wrong but I am in a difficult situation. thanks

The 90 day entry visa does not have to be canceled. Only when you are already on an extension of stay do you have to report/end that extension on the day employment ends. So a change of location will not effect your current 90 day stay but if you can not obtain a work permit by the time it ends you will not be able to extend your stay.
