Timing Issue On Renewing Retirement Visa

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Retirement Visa (Extension of Stay) and Re-Entry Permit, both of which which will expire on 15th of July.

I have over THB800,000 in my Bank Account - but prior to 28th of March this year, the balance was just about THB200,000.

I was planning to renew my Visa after 28th of June, but now some urgent family business has arisen meaning I need to be out of the country from June 20th until July 30th.

I there any way I can come back after the 30th of July and still renew my Visa, or will I have to be here before it expires to renew it?

Hope this makes sense - any advice would be very much appreciated!

Regards,

Stephen

If you can get a letter from your embassy showing income, any amount will do, you can use the letter and funds in the bank without the funds needing to be seasoned.

You could then renew prior to your trip.

Remember to get a new re-entry permit.

Per above, you can use the method of combining income and money in the bank if you have any income. In That case you get a letter from your embassy confirming your income and a letter from the bank as uaual. In case of a combination no seasoning of the money is needed.

If you can't do that, you will simply have to apply for a new non-O vis while away and re-enter on that.

If you are married to a Thai national, you can apply for a 60 day extension just before the 20th and when you return apply for a 1 year extension based on retirement as usual.

No your extension of stay will have expired as the earlier post mentioned do it early.

If I have read your posting correctly, you should, as TerryLH has alluded, have a very small window of opportunity (in practice 18th & 19th June) to get your next extension of stay sorted with Immigration before you leave Thailand on the 20th. Most offices accept applications up to 30 days before expiry - and I believe that a very small few (notably Pattaya) are prepared to consider applications submitted up to 60 days beforehand.

And, as Terry has stated, you should obtain a new re-entry permit at the same time.
