Bird Breeders In Los

Featured Replies

Here's one for Bambina...... :D

I've seen Thai bird magazines on sale in JJ Plaza.

Do they list the breeders of parrots? (I can''t read Thai) :o

Why is there no list of Avian vets available?

With all the bird flu probs, I thought the gov't would turn to vets who specialised in avian health problems..

There are many good breeders in Thailand, do you know any websites/urls?

cheers

I'm not in Thailand, that's why I need websites to do my homework before going to JJ or a breeder.

"petjj" is a good website and I do not have a copy of the Thai bird magazine with me.

Any sites offering African Greys, Sun Conures, Green Cheeked Conures, Amazons, Asian RN Parakeets, Kings, Hanging Parrots etc.?

Not Cockatoos. :o

Thank you

sorry to say, but these birds belong in the wild. being kept as a single bird, especially when raised rom babyage, they need loads of attention hardly anyone can provide. am not saying that you wouldn't take care perfectly for a bird but that would support breeding those birds. too many left alone in their small cages all day long......

why not look for 'second hand' ones?

when i lived in germany i took in amazons, cockatoos and many kinds of large parakeets whose owners wanted to get rid of them or i bought them off them when i saw a sad neglected creature in a small cage. most of the birds had behaviour disorders like picking their feathers, chewing their feet or shouting all day long. when given a spouse and a big aviary (sp?) they usually become happy birds with many things to do. when i left europe i brought the birds to bird parks or bird lovers with big aviarys. i prefer watching birds with their natural behavior than blabbing human words or songs, which can get quite annoying after some time.....

amazingly intelligent though, especially the cockatoos, easy to teach them dancing, saltos etc, but that's also why they need lots of input...

Well elfe very interesting comments, I did all my zoo and veterinary training in germany, and in my experience in germany , 85% of Ara,s Cockatoo,s and amazon parrots in private ownership were illegal birds smuggled in from traders in belgium and holland, I worked and was even Curator in some of the biggest parks and zoos in DE, I dont know about recent years, but up until 1996, there were no private cockatoo or macaw breeders in germany, in zoos and parks there was plenty of breeding going on, in the private sector there were plenty of registered lorikeet and parakeet breeders and other smaller species, by the way which birdparks did you give your bird s to what type of papers did they have , were they microchipped, would really like to know because we have really strict regulations in the zoological fraternity, regarding the acceptance of birds from the private sector.Nignoy

when i had my birds that was between 1988 and 1998 and there were quite a few private breeders of any kind of birds, also grey parrots, cockatoos, amazon parrots, aras etc. also sometimes shows for these birds from breeders. the birds i had weren't microchippedand didn't have any papers. their origin was blur but i'm sure they were illegally imported, some of them about 20 years of age. when i left germany i had to find good places for them to stay and bought lots of bird magazines, i was amazed how many bird breeders there were about who offered their handraised aras etc.

some of the amazones i brought to a bird park in the bavarian forrest, can't remember the name, others to breeders with great avaries and good knowledge about the birds. my two little cockatoos (can't remeber the exact name but their home are the timor islands) were picked up from a breeder who travelled 800km just for them and even paid good money for them. he showed me his avaries on fotos and also later he kept me updated about the wellbeing of the two. he was from cologne and also bred moluk (?) cockatoos and others.

it was sad to give the birds away especially the small cockatoos, they were extremely intelligent and smart and at least 15 yrs old. will never forget the look in the eyes of one of them when this man came to pick them up, it was as if the bird knew him and remembered. i knew the bird very well , had him for years and was very close with it. but such a look in his face i had never seen before!! before i took these birds i would never have thought that you could see their emotions just in their look! as the man was keeping these kind of birds since 20 yrs he said it was quite possible that he knew him before. still thinking of these birds sometimes :o

I have 2 good leads, one from Bambina and one from Nignoy. :D

There must be more. :o

Thanks

Not Cockatoos. :o

On behalf of the cockatoo lovers here, I strenuously object. I've bred Moluccans for over 30 years now. They are the best possible way to rid oneself of neighbours!

moluccans are a nice display and show bird, but do not make very good pets , live to a ripe old age, Aachen zoo has pair that have been together since the early 60,s and they were mature birds when we got them , but if you are kinky :o and like Pink :D Major Mitchells are real cute :D nignoy

thanks for that link.. always on the lookout for this type of 'business' in Thailand.

i will be passing on their details to relevent bodies for investigation into taking animals from the wild to then re-sell

look at this page of their's.. "...a reticulated Python, was caught in the wild.." offered for sale at 4000 baht ! :o

i notice they are also selling Mynah birds. Hmmm...

they can expect a call & visit soon..

Take a look at the appalling conditions birds are kept in, in JJ PLaza.

I've never seen such badly kept birds. :D

They are supposed to be breeders!

Wild caught birds are useless as pets or breeders.

Only buy birds that are closed ringed, that shows that they were bred in captivity.

I only buy from SanamLuang 2 now.

Screw Chatuchak & JJ Plaza. :o

GungaDin, I know this SanamLuang 2 market as I have been there 6/7 yrs ago but have tried looking on the web to find a few specialist dealers but no luck, I am interested only in captive bred birds and do not buy unless closed ringed or I know the breeders personally.

wackysleet.

My apologies for my tardy reply, it seems that some of my subs have stopped.

There is a good breeder at SL2 named JP Pets.

Do NOT give this guy more than 200bt as a deposit if you order a bird.

A good breeder and a dodgey biz man. TiT.

PM me if you need more info.
