Thanks!

(It is my first time to quote reply, I didn't how to quote. So I wrong click "like" and "unlike". And fortunately I click "like" at last.)

I am a Chinese, and have stayed in Chiangmai for about half year. I really like this nicest city!

Thanks for your welcome! I have got some useful information before from Thaivisa.com, so I like this website. I think thaivisa.com is the first forum website for foreigners in Thailand until now.

Welcome Caibiao, and I enjoy your pictures a lot!! Thank you.

And if you're visiting from China then you're also excused for all the pics of Western women. wink.png

Yes, absolutely, welcome! ..and more so for being a guy with a healthy appreciation of all kinds of women, without the preconceived biased attitude that quite a few members of thaivisa seem to form.

Hm... maybe it is the difference ... cause eyesight...

Second reason... I think it is a forum for foreigners in Chiangmai, maybe some can see their friends or even themselves ...

What a fun will be!

When will "life" return to normal (i.e. banks, schools) open?

April 16: Songkran ends; no more water fun

April 17: Banks and government offices open. Yours Truly goes back to work.

The 17th is still a public holiday (government extension) and I know the university (CMU) will be closed to everyone so I wouldn't rely upon government offices being open.

My SCB (Siam Commercial Bank) calendar does not show 17th as being a holiday but the Thaivisa calander does....

Bank Of Thailand (http://www.bot.or.th/English/FinancialInstitutions/FIholiday/Pages/2555.aspx) also says no holiday on 17th....

take your pick.....

This man should have his daughter/neice/whatever taken away from him and then charged with child endangerment......

rolleyes.gif By going slowly along a party area, where everyone is enjoying themselves?

The craziest yet.....policemen attacking unhelmeted motorcyclist and passenger. He should be removed from the force.

Jees.. How about getting back to your DVDs, or finding yourself a life in a culture that you do approve of? If you don't enjoy it then fine, but save others from the verbal vinegar, especially when it's a direct flame to the local guys in the pictures, enjoying and celebrating their own festival their own way. Or are you just looking to bait some people? Looking at the pic above again, a scene from Phuket, with a policeman with a hose blessing two motorcycle riders dressed up in festival gear, being stationary and inviting the splashing, I can only conclude that it's a deliberate baiting attempt.

So you have no respect for the law? In both pictures people are clearly breaking the law. Or does the law not apply on festival days?

Of course not,how long have you lived in Thailand? Also does not apply to every other Tuesday and every Saturday &Sunday when there is a vowel (In English of course) in the month. And other TBA days.

From The Government Public Relations Department:

* Friday, 13 April 2012 - Songkran Festival

* Monday, 16-17 April 2012 Substitution for Songkran Festival (Saturday, 14 April 2012 and Sunday, 15 April 2012)

The official dates of the holiday are from 13 to 15 April, and these three days often stretches into five when combined with a weekend.

Songkran – Friday, 13th April to Tuesday, 17th April 2012

Songkran 13 - 17th

Monday 16 April and Tuesday 17 April are substitution holidays for the weekend dates. Thaivisa - Cha Am

I agree there is a lot of conflicting information out there.

That's good then...a very long time (not that that would have any affect on me noticing a law being broken) So you must agree that the people in the photos are breaking the law irrespective of it being so called Songkran fun.

Dave2 was up in the helicopter that was buzzing around yesterday - probably sat next to Yingluck ;)

I believe it was 200 baht or a wetting, what do you prefer? TIT -wonderful!

The BIB should be doing his job that the taxpayers pay him for....not at all wonderful...just plain idiotic....

I thought you were being serious for just a moment and then realized that no one could be that miserable.

Try a smiley face icon so everyone realize its sarcasm.

Nice one; the other lad had some good ones, but much prefer to look at the natives. wink.png

Is it just a coiincidence, but why in those thumbnails are there so many young going-too-fat farang pooying in the pictures?

Maybe they were the majority of the water throwers? And throwing water over open tuktuks as well.

Don't know about the majority but certainly there must be more farang in C.M. for Songkran this year than I can ever recall seeing before. Does anyone else agree with this? Yesterday near the moat in certain areas, quite honestly I had to look around for the Thais to see them. Then today, I took my kid out again for some more water fighting but didn't want the city traffic so we went to small villages from Sansai to Nong Hoi and no joke, even in the smallest of villages with locals passed out from drinking lao khao and toothless older ladies being the majority, there was at least one farang in each and every single one of the villages! Some of them with their primitive water throwing apparatus looked so out of place you would wonder how they got there??? Have the missionaries moved into the tiny villages everywhere or what is going on?

Posted

Well it is the first year in a while that Thais aren't messing the place up over Songkran, and there aren't any disease scares or other calamities. But yeah, good number of Farangs. Lots of women specifically.

maybe, i can't see a gun in the holster. real police? off duty police? the singing policeman from Anusarn? either way, it looks he was never there to enforce the law.

and where is the beach in chiang mai?
