I have recently finished employment inLOS and now need to change my visa. What options are available as my ex employer wants to go to immigration and cancell my non b visa as it is already on extension of stay.

What I need to know is how cani I convert my visa to a 30 day tourist visa easily? Do I need to do a boder run and convert it in Cambodia or Los? I know I can get an extension of stay for 7 days for 1900 thb but wouldn't a border run be better value for money?

thanks Dutch

If you do a border run you will get 15 days if you return by land, 30 days if you return by air.

You could get a tourist visa in a neighbouring country, giving you 60 days which can be extended by 30 days, possibly a double entry tourist visa in Vientiane or Savanakhet. Cambodia is not advised, as it takes 4 days to issue.

If your employment has already finished you are already on overstay so you need to take immediate action. The rule is last day of work is when you must cancel your extension of stay and leave or apply for new extension (7 days allowed to leave if no other valid reason for extension). You can not convert to 30 day entry but if married or have Thai child you could obtain 60 days to visit them - otherwise you need to leave and return with a new visa or visa exempt entry.

Last day of employment is what counts. Your employer needs to give you a letter, with which you go to labour to cencel the work permit and a letter for immigration to cancel your permission to stay. Labour should give you a form, confirming your WP has been cancelled.

It is the date that is mentioned in the letter from your employer that will be considered your last day of employement.

You should be fine. Do you use the One Stop Service Center (samsuri square) by any chance? If that is the case, they might give you 7 days to leave for free, as they have slightly different rules from normal immigration.
