Hi all i have worked out an itinerary for myself, kicking off on the 2nd of December and finishing on the 4th of january.

Internal flights have alraedy been booked to phuket and from krabi to cover the dates below so i am sticking to itinerary.

I need you guys to give me a dig out with which beach to stay on in the different places and which hotels to stay in.

I am on a budget of roughly 1,300 baht per night without breakfast if needs be as i am looking to party.

Myself and my wife (Thai) are in our early 30s and not afraid of staying close to party areas as we will be out late most nights ourselves.

What i am looking for hopefully is nice clean room with very good aircon fairly close to the action, ie within walking distance

Here is my itinerary

DEC 2 SUN LAMPANG 3 MON LAMPANG 4 TUE LAMPANG 5 WED LAMPANG 6 THU LAMPANG 7 FRI PHUKET 8 SAT PHUKET 9 SUN PHUKET 10 MON PHUKET 11 TUE PHUKET 12 WED PHUKET 13 THU KOH PHI PHI 14 FRI KOH PHI PHI 15 SAT KOH LANTA 16 SUN KOH LANTA 17 MON KOH LANTA 18 TUE KRABI 19 WED KRABI 20 THU KRABI 21 FRI KRABI 22 SAT PATTAYA 23 SUN PATTAYA 24 MON PATTAYA 25 TUE PATTAYA 26 WED KOH CHANG 27 THUR KOH CHANG 28 FRI KOH CHANG 29 SAT KOH CHANG 30 SUN PATTAYA 31 MON PATTAYA Jan-01 TUE PATTAYA 2 WED PATTAYA 3 THUR PATTAYA

I have the lampang side of things covered as i have been there many times, Wifes home town.

So i am looking at 6 days in phuket, 2 phi phi , 3 Koh Lanta, 4 Krabi, 9 Pattaya and 4 Koh chang.

The reason i am staying so much in pattaya is i want to be in party town for the christmas and new years eve

All help with which beach to stay on and what hotel to stay in would be really really appreciated

What do you want in Phuket? Party or relaxation? Six days would be a lot in Patong I think. I use the C&N Hotel there but only for a couple of nights. Inside your budget.

In Krabi any of the places in Krabi town are easily inside budget. Much less than Ao Nang. Nice night market there too.

You will get a hovel for that price in Phi Phi. My advice is to go straight to Lanta....don't get off the boat.

Plenty options there...Lanta is worth five relaxing days...you will enjoy the peace and quiet after Phuket.

I'll leave the eastern seaboard to others. biggrin.png

Would i be better off doing a day trip then to Phi phi from Phuket and doing Lanta like you say for 5 days

and oh ya i will probably party alot in phuket ha ha

Phi Phi is on the way to Lanta so you might as well spend a night there If you really are set on paying a visit. I wouldn't recommend more than one. Accomodation is expensive.

Party animal huh? C&N will be right up your alley then....directly opposite Bangla Road.

If you want cheaper do a google search on guesthouses on Soi Sansabai.

One other thing to say to you is to book up early for those dates from 23rd Dec to 2nd or 3rd of Jan cos otherwise a lot of places will be full or very expensive.

I recommend you do some research first on tripadvisor.com. Too many choices to just recommend one. 9 days in Pattaya. Are you sure????

Hi craig thannks for your input ya i have done a good bit of research on trip advisor etc but sometimes trip advisor is not that accurate and i was hoping to get some good ideas from some of the more well traveled people on here.

Well, Pattaya is colorful for sure! NYE is always a busy time with plenty to do. Hotels do book up fast, so good idea to start looking now.

I stayed at Baron Beach a few years ago. Nothing special, but right next to Central Festival and quiet for it's location. Nice pool, OK wifi, reasonable price.

Where do you want to stay in Krabi Niall? Krabi Town, Ao Nang or Railey beach?

Edit: Or Koh Jum?

Truthfully i am not sure, word on the street seems to say ao nang or railey what do u think smokie

This has to be the worst week of the year to visit, bar none.

Koh Jum - no 1st time tourist is going to have interest in Jum.

Pattaya will be an absolute nightmare

Patong will be an absolute nightmare

Koh Chang is sort of isolated so if you are headed there - that is it. Unless you opt for the smaller tiny surrounding islands.

Maybe if you specify what you want to do while you are here, th eboard can better assist.

I'd lean towards Ao Nang or Railey. Ao Nang is on the mainland and has a long stretch of hotels, bars and restaurants. You catch the boat there to Railey. One side of Railey (East?) is a mud flat and packed with lower end backpacker type places. The other side is dominated by a few high end resorts and the beach pretty much disappears at high tide. It's interesting to see for a day or so, but not much to do unless your into climbing...or hanging out and eating banana pancakes.

Chang is a big island. Lots of choices for hotels. It's gotten quite expensive lately, but then so has most of Thailand. White Sand Beach seems to be the bigger beach. It's OK, though one end is pretty rocky. KC Resort (?) use to be my fav, but it's gone upscale and out of my budget. Lots of other places on the island and quite a bit to do to keep you busy. Just be careful if you rent a scooter. Lots of accidents on the winding roads.

I would vote for Krabi Town. After a few days on Lanta by the beach I doubt you will miss the lack of one in the town.

Also you can head to Railey for a day on the boat then enjoy the night market in town.

Its also much cheaper than the other places for accommodation.

Try looking at this site. http://www.krabi-hotels.com/hotels/krabi-city.htm or you could try the new Riverside Hotel which is quite decent as well.

There are a number of cheaper backpacker type places in town with rooms around 200 Baht a night.
