BANGKOK: -- A Thai woman and six Vietnam nationals have been arrested for up to 100 cases of theft at fairs and at tourist destinations.

Police are calling on victims to look at evidence and identify the suspects at Makkasan police station.

The seven suspects - namely Pathaithip Jaroram, 47, and Vietnamese nationals aged between 16 and 29 - were presented at a press conference yesterday.

Pathaithip is believed to have been the gang leader, providing other members of the gang housing and taking them to crowded places where they could cut handbags and pick pockets. She is also believed to have sold the stolen items.

Police said Pathaithip had previously been arrested for four other offences and bribery. Initial investigation has found that the gang was involved in 30 theft cases in the Makkasan area, 42 in the Lumpini area and 29 in the Lat Phrao area.

Did you have a former bargirl friend overthere or are you a racist by profession?

I lived and worked there several years, and its nothing to do with racism (?), its embedded in the culture, lying, cheating and stealing is how you go about in vietnam and vietnamese has absolutely no problem with it foreigner or not.

Ask anyone who have spent time there.

General advice for walking around in Saigon is - dont use your phone, dont have any jewelry on you, more or less dont carry your bag on you, dont have any money on you, if you take your camera to take a photo theres a very good chance you will get it snitched by a motobike passing.

Hanoi, well thats obvious if youre foreigner, you will get it hardcore on arrival :)

Arrested for bribery? Is that when you're arrested for not paying the bribe?
