Another reintroduction program gained more ground this past week (courtesy of Korat Zoo) with 8 Eastern Sarus Cranes (worlds tallest flying bird) coming a step closer to being released back into the wild in Buriram Province.

This beautifully elegant bird (Nok Karien) has been absent from Thailand as a breeding species for many years now and while Cambodia holds the nearest small sustaining population, in zoo's or as a very rare wild visitor/vagrant are the only 2 ways it can be seen here today.

I sincerely wish the team at Korat Zoo all the very best of luck with this project. wai.gif
