Best Way To Transfer Funds Into Cambodia

Featured Replies

After getting all my affairs in order, I am planning to move to Phonm Penh. One of the first things I need to figure out is what is the best way to transfer different funds I have.

Currently, I have a fair amount of Thai baht, some in cash/some in Thai bank accounts, a USD foreign account, a GBP foreign account and some American Express travelers checks.

I had considered cashing the travelers checks in Phonm Penh but it seems like all the banks there charge a 2% fee versus only 33 baht fee per check here in Thailand. On the other hand, if I cashed the checks in Thailand I would then have to convert the baht I would get back into US dollars.

Anyway, I am hoping someone has already dealt with this and can provide me with some suggestions. Thank you in advance for any help.

I plan to close my Thai bank accounts so that won't work. Guess I will just have to do more research and contact some banks In Phonm Penh before deciding the best course of action.

I am pretty sure SCB operate in Cambodia, so maybe that is an option?
