It shows the power of throwing huge amounts of money at a massive,

world-wide, Public Relations Campaign, to 'modify the perceptions'

of bureaucrats, all too busy to really care about Thailands internal problems.

Basically after buying himself a new government, he has made sure his cousin, the FM,

sent copious 'official documents' saying all is forgiving as far as THIS government is concerned.

Since the correspondent governments want commerce and cooperation to continue as their proprity,

they are just going along with it. Just follow the money and you'll find why his world has opened up.

How much money was spent by the Abhisit government tracking down Thaksin whilst lying to the entire Thai public that an arrest warrant had been raised and interpol were were ready to arrest him. He sent two representatives to the UAE to discuss "extradition" and that is just one instance. Perhaps Abhisit was being clever and keeping the imbecile Kasit busy so that he couldn't do too much damage to Thai foreign relations.

By the way this "bought" government you and your peers are always going on about. Is the Election Commission aware of it? It seems not as apart from one or two instances I don't believe there have been red cards issued or parties being dissolved so I guess everything was OK.

PPD You really need to get of your little island, go some were have a vacation, You need a break from your-self and TV needs a brake from you, welcome back in like 10-15 years.

i think most countries know it was a nonsense court case against shinawatra

seems to be well loved in manchester

http://www.dailymail...ter-United.html

to you think the thai elites propagnda thai media will allow these pohotos to be shown?

Maybe you should have read this:

Shinawatra was in the cheap seats on Monday night and happily mingled with fans who asked for photographs and autographs.

But City fans will hope that is as close as he comes to power back at his old club.

The ICT seem to be allowing access to them, and i guess they'll probably be all over the Red-Shirt propaganda-magazines and TV, so the current-PTP-amart in-charge have no apparent problem with these images. wink.png

"Things have returned to normal now," he said."

"Today we look forward with hope [of making] Thailand grow further," he said.

Things have returned to normal? I guess normal is relative

Hoping Thailand grows further is probably the right thing to do if one is not going to make an attempt. to make it grow further. Grow further which way?

They are all in it together. The only time the PTP spokepeople, MP or not, is not lying in when thier mouths are not moving. Otherwise take you chances. Thailand did last July.

Yingluck... is trying and seems willing to admit her mistakes.

As to her brother... the only people who seem excited about his visit here are his enemies on Thaivisa.

I don't believe YS has actually admitted to anything at all... she has just persistently smiled off accounting for anything, hence the frustration. If she admitted a mistake and indicated she was working to make things right, I'd back off. But her politics right now show no regard whatsoever for the people that elected her... just for the cronies that are keeping her in power.

On your second point, Thaksin every move is fodder for both sides:

- his enemies... after all politics does breed contempt

- the current government... where MPs soil their pants with excitement when he comes within a 100 miles of the kingdom (yes, I said "soil")

How is it "clear that the Election Commission is aware of it" - have they come out and said so, texted you, what?

Oh c'mon, that really is feeble.... you don't see any of them walking around tapping with white sticks do you.

Well if it so obvious that the PTP "bought" the election why haven't they acted, they certainly haven't been backward coming forward the last couple of times.

They paid off anyone that got in their way last election. Including the election commission.

Unlikely. Reading your previous post regarding PPD I doubt you're that bright. biggrin.png

Thailand is clearly a wonderful country, when the Foreign Minister can spare the time, to show such a detailed knowledge and take such an interest in the travel-problems of one ordinary citizen.

Keep repeating ... "It's not all about Thaksin" ... ""It's not all about Thaksin" ... "No really, etcetera ... "

A former Prime Minister and Brother of the current one can hardly be described as ordinary.

To Americaninbangkok, I am in England at the moment and am having problems with Thaivisa's server so cannot use the "quote" facility.

So my reply is this, I have learnt that all Thais are both incapable of apology (unless you hold a gun to their head), and unable to admit they are wrong. The only way you can tell if they realise they were wrong is if they either change tactics or drag their feet. Now Yingluck is definitely dragging her feet on the tablets, I think she realises it is a mad idea. The same with the minimum wage and rice pledging, they were probably not her ideas in the first place. Prime Ministers whether Yingluck or Abhisit are not all powerful, they have to balance internal struggles within their ranks. Abhisit was yanked about by the likes of Newin and Kasit and the army just a Yingluck is getting yanked about by her brother and the red shirts.

humbug

That's "Ba Humbug".

He was convicted the will to get the conviction might have been political,

or more correctly the removal of political preassure to PREVENT a prosecution,

but the facts of the case were clear and he declined to appeal his final appeal.

He IS guilty, and that's why he can only use the courses of action he has to get home and not do time. Doing that short time of course would cease to stall the other cases against him. and that is LONG time indeed he really faces.

Let;s see if the government has the same courage to acknowledge that the editor of Prachatai is also screwed by the establishment.

They've already expressed their opinion on the issue 3 months ago... which would indicate they feel nobody is getting "screwed"...

Just 2 relevant points here.

Firstly, the Computer Crime Act was passed into law by a military junta that itself had no legal foundation.

Secondly, Chiranuch Premchaiporn was charged in 2009, by officials acting for Abhisit's puppet regime, which itself had no electoral mandate.

Time for Yingluck to sweep the whole kettle of stinking fish into the dustbin, after all, she does have the legitimacy of actually winning an election and should govern on behalf of the people, not a coterie of self important hi-so's.

Both self-important hi-so's Yingluck and Thaksin have said there will be no changes to the law.

Self-important hi-so Chalerm has established an LM "War Room" to scrutinize for even additional offenders.

This is what the "people" have got from their "legitimately won election."

The update from then indicates nothing to "acknowledge" is changing for her

It isn't. From time to time Thaksin has to show his red followers that he is a "man of the people" and "in touch with the working class". Sitting alone in a secluded VIP lounge would not have promoted this image.

Thaksin knows that simple minds fall for this sort of crap.

Well it's not Manchester's bloody money he's stealing to spend in Manchester, so why wouldn't he popular there?

When have any Thai newspapers or television stations been shy about showing Thaksin's propaganda? Didn't you see the overflow of crap coming from Cambodia?

Better than not having a personality like Abhisit.

Obviously...... but i still tend to think that it was a photo op before Kick off......

He can't mix with his own working class.... How can he mix with Farang????

Silly me.... he might be up for "Walking street got talent" award.....

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was free to travel to many countries because they were aware court cases against him were politically motivated, Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said yesterday.

Maybe lot of countries understand this is a typical Thai issue which is not to be understood by foreigners and therefore best to be ignored. Court cases politically motivated is also a nice way of saying that the opposition is a bit of a bother and may go away when ignored. Just like is done in mature democracies.
