We're battling an army of fire ants that we can't seem to kill. We've tried borax and some other local products but these guys won't take it back to their home and feed it to others. They only eat it and die on the spot. Then the next invasion comes.

They are like a super strain of fire ants. Terminator ants.

Anyone encounter these and how did you kill them?

this happened to me also. wife went and got a frog, took it in the house, put it where the ants were coming in and he ate the lot. when they were gone, wife picked him up and put him back in the garden. thumbsup.gif

My parents faced a fire ant invasion in Australia, they were told not to put borax on the trail, they were told to find the nest and put the borax directly on the nest, a few days after the application of borax to the nest, no more fire ants.

Clever. Doesn't kill them off but it's a smart way to get rid of the ones in the room.

I wonder if the nest is too far and they are dying before they get back to it. Maybe I'll follow the trail outside tomorrow and see if I can find the nest.

Awesome.

Never had a problem myself but a couple of my American friends have. One says spray a can of WD40 down one of the vents then throw a lighted newspaper onto the nest. Boom! The other suggested it was cheaper to use his girlfriend's Walmart hairspray with the WD40 nozzle. He also said something about flashpoint and WD40 tends to blow the nest to pieces which I would have thought was a good thing.

I recently faced an invasion in the kitchen after many months of peace and I saw their access which was a crack in the window frame and I then took my Chaindrite cockroach and termite spray with the long narrow nozzle and dosed it...no further problems...

Chaindrite have effective products and always good to have on hand when a problem is detected...nasty and toxic but in the kitchen just cover up the food preparation area before use then OK...OK for a number of years now...

Nest, Diesel, Match.

Kill them with FIRE.

and all places where you find them as well.

At minimum 40-100 Liter Diesel in the house.....

Alternative take some radioactive things from an hospital grind it in small particle and blow it in your house....

Blue ant powder directly on the nest. no idea what its called but it comes in a little round tin that looks like it should hold chewing tobacco.
