Popular Post americaninbangkok Posted May 3, 2012 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2012 It was done as sarcasm... The leader didnt understand......... The man was quoting as sarcasm HE WAS NOT PROMOTING HITLER.. Even though it is a BAD gig to do this he was not in the promotion role.......... He is Blue/ democrat party and was not promoting the man with a funny moustash!!.. He was saying YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT JUST LIKE HITLER... he was not impressed with what was happening......HE supports the Blue! Please dont flame the guy for doing this..ask your girlfriend!! A. Not sure what my girlfriend has to do with Hitler or this incredible display of stupidity by the MP. B. Too late. Once the cat gets out of the bag, it's hard to get it back in. You can have a heated debate. Really angry. Furious. Fist-pumping and yelling. But once you say "F*** YOU", the rational discourse is over. Hard to go from rationale anger to "F*** YOU" and then back to rationale anger. This bozo overstepped common decency and sensibility (Chula does teach about the Holocaust, no?), and now is probably hoping to be taken seriously again. But then again... TIT. 3
americaninbangkok Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Parliament is always half empty. Fair enough... but this is the kind of crap that does fill Parliament? Oy vey!
Yunla Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 You should know that most people including Germans don't have a problem with 'remember the war' be it talking about Hitler or seeing salutes or w/e. These are all aspects of 20th Century history which children read about in books with colour pictures of the man himself doing his salute. Its not actually radioactive material, its just something that happened during WW2. What people in Europe and elsewhere are sensitive about is the fascism that accompanies the salute. For example take my earlier point on John Cleese, huge nazi salutes and goose steps and everybody laughs. When a fascist neo-nazi does this at a rally nobody laughs because that person actually loves Hitler and wants a return to fascist government with all the ethnic cleansing and totalitarianism that accompanies it.. People including me are offended by neo-nazism, and offended by other forms of right-wing actions. I am not offended by salutes or words when used as parody as in Fawlty Towers and as used by this Dem MP parodying the 'unquestioning obedience of the subjugated masses' which is the kind of totalitarian regime that Thaksin is bringing back home with him from his world tour. 1
americaninbangkok Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I'm pretty sure people in many other countries call someone a Nazi or Hitler (or a mini Hitler, Hitler wannabe etc.) as an insult, or if they feel they are being overbearing, unreasonable, a control freak, or even less. One place I used to work in, many workers called one of the managers Hitler behind his back. No one went so far as doing the salute to his face though... Or on cctv on the floor of Parliament?
americaninbangkok Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 "Heil Thaksin" was what he should have said. The vicious dictator is smoothing his way back to Thailand using his clone and making deals with Thai power set. Gracious, 2 hours and 23 posts before we can blame it on Thaksin! Standards on TVF are not what they were! Maybe Godwin's Law can be modified to refer to Thaksin on TV? The longer the blog gets on any topic on ThaiVisa, the probability of a Thaksin reference becomes 100%. It can start with a discussion about the annual flower show in northern Thailand... given more than 30 posts, it will end with Thaksin. It can begin with the Grand Prix in Bahrain... it will end with Thaksin. And as everyone knows, any discussion about the best bar for happy hour on the riverfront must surely end with ........ ? (go ahead... say it... I know you want to!)

noitom Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The larger point is that Thais seem to use this Nazi imagery and in this case the Heil Hitler salute as a mass appeal move or currying favor with their audience. Like the students with the SS uniforms. It is not an understood phenomenon in Thai culture and society. They are "aggrandizing" Hitler and Nazis when they give a Heil Hitler salute in public no matter their motives, particularly in government. As stated before, it is a good opportunity for the newspaper to write an informative editorial on the subject and set the matter straight and stay on the case until Thais get it.

ricardofel Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 YouTube video has been removed. A bunch of idiots as MP's.

Ummm... that would be a matter for the Ministers of Education and Culture, no? Good luck with that. The first is busy figuring out Plan B for the tablet PC debacle (must obtain textbooks). The second is about to give up her job to her husband in a month.

FOODLOVER Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 He was calling the house speaker a Dictatorial prick for not listening to his arguments. You cant do that?
BigSkip Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 #14 straedearts You are 100% CORRECT! And I agree. I am NOT in favor of any party, nor I should be, but the Guys mic was turned off, I think he needed to make a point and he did! No more, no less. Nothing to do about supporting Hitler.
Scott Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 An unacceptable comment has been deleted as well as replies.
Traxster Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I agree with spr&q........... If that's the local version of a 'nazi slaute' then that gentleman needs to go back to saluting school........
MILT Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I thought Thai's didn't know who Hitler was. My personal experience - most thai's dont know history beyond the borders of burma ! Then you have very little experience. It sounds like most of the Thai people you know are red shirts? Thais.
glegolo Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Now we know, they know who he was, not nice!!! I thought Thai's didn't know who Hitler was. Just to make something perfectly clear here. People of Thailand with somewhat education, they knows who that Hitler was.... They know. Maybe not in full extend, hbut they have read some stuff about Hitler..... But ordinary people that most of us falangs comes in contact with on a daily basis, have not a single clue who Hitler was. Not even your dear wifes that you refer to, knows anything... So forget all that nonsens. These guys you see in that video, they knows perfectly well what they are doing. And you do not need to be a rocket scientist to understand what you hear. The speaker is making an most improper salut as an answer to that idiot who screamed Heil Hitler a couple of times... It is a shame that Thailand shows this behavior by it´s representative. There are already big problems to solve for Thailand as a 3rd-class nation and they do not need stuff like this. Thailand should work on gaining som "class" if they want to sit and "eat at the very same table" with the westerners economicly. Glegolo
koosdeboer Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons? 1
sirchai Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Soon there will be "Autobahns" all; over the country, all people drive their "Volkswagen" and Thaksin screws Eva Braun.....
animatic Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Clearly he is being blocked from finishing his statement, which appears to be a overstepping of power by the totally partisan House Speaker. His anger is justified, his reaction escalates and finally reaches a tipping point. The leadership could have handled this much differently, but didn't, and provoked him serially. I don't approve of his final actions, but I can understand his frustration. Leadership has a brief to let as little counter government info reach the public ears as they can manage to stifle in Parliament or anywhere. Reminds me of Thaksins "NO!": signs he'd hold up to stop a reported from asking questions he doesn't like. Of course considering who the boss is, this doesn't surprise.
carra Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 people are deciding on this based on their political leanings, the dems and yellows (are they different) are trying to justify it as horseplay, the PTP and red supporters are pointing out how morally wrong it is for someone to this, and clearly its wrong for an elected person in parliament to do this whether in jest or not. I think if those of the yellow persuassion took of their yellow tinted specs for a minute they would see how wrong this is, just for one minute imagine your ire if this was a PTP politician and direct that towards this dem moron.
animatic Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Soon there will be "Autobahns" all; over the country, all people drive their "Volkswagen" and Thaksin screws Eva Braun..... When do the bomb Dresden and when do we get to the bunker scene?

GeorgeO Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Hitler salute? Who is claiming this? Even my Thai wife said that he is motioning to speak or wishes to keep speaking, because they shut-off his mic.; trying to incite something here?... Something wrong with you hearing or eyesight ???? clearly he make a nazi salute while screaming hiel hitler no incite here pretty clear he is a Nazi lol No, what is clear if you have half a brain is that he is an anti-Nazi. He is criticising what he sees as the dictatorial behaviour -- or Nazi-like behaviour -- of the speaker. It is mockery. Got it now? I agree. He is obviously very frustrated at not being given an opportunity to object to the underhanded way that the constituion committee is being rigged, and thus, has resorted to accusing the Speaker of being akin to a modern day Hitler. He is not himself suggesting that he is a Nazi, or even a Nazi supporter. It was clearly a little unwise of him, and not really necessary, but how else are the people going to gain an understanding of the depths that the Government will stoop to in order to bring back their real Feurher? 1

Markaew Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Godwin or Darwin, we need some higher caliber people in the house. Agreed but where are they going to come from?
Markaew Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I thought Thai's didn't know who Hitler was. Was that statement made tongue-in-cheek? Thais actively promote Hitler and the Nazis in the schools anytime they have sporting events. For a long time I thought this was just ignorance on their part and I still think that is true but realized it really makes sense. Thais are very quick to band together to hate a person or a group of people. Quite a parallel.
