Lite Beer
Poll: People most content with PM after 9 months in office BANGKOK, 6 May 2012 (NNT) – Majority of people are most satisfied with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, according to a recent survey by ABAC poll. The poll was conducted among 2,259 respondents aged over 18 in 17 provinces to find out their opinions and level of satisfaction towards individual cabinet members after 9 months in office. Results show that among all the ministerial members, people were most content with Prime Minister Yingluck, with 64.8 %, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Pol Capt Chalerm Yubumrung (57.6 %), Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa (53.64 %), and Deputy Prime Minister Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapa (50.5 %). While the satisfactory level for the rest of the cabinet was less than 50%. Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sithipan was the least known minister, closely followed by Deputy Finance Minister Thanusak Lek-uthai, said the poll. As for an overall evaluation, the government receives 5.93 points out of 10, and 90% of the surveyed people indicated that the problem of higher priced consumer goods was factual. 38.2 % of the respondents expressed agreement to the idea of letting the 111 executive members of the disbanded Thai Rak Thai party, who are completing the 5-year political ban at the end of this month, return to political arena and take ministerial posts while 36.9 opposed such idea. 67.4 % said it was an opportune time for a cabinet reshuffle, and nearly half of the respondents were of an opinion that Jatuporn Prompan should be given an opportunity to be a minister. -- NNT 2012-05-

KireB
I am glad to see that the Thais are most content with her. A smashing 65% out of a hundred! It must be her effective handling of the flood efforts, her down to earth approaches when it comes to inflation, her heartwarming answers to all critical questions, her love for her family or her passionate debating skills. If we are not careful, she will turn in a Thai Eva Peron. Edited May 6, 2012 by KireB
Bakseedaa
What an absolute load of <deleted>... A prime minister who is Never in Parliament , who would rather be with an old boyfriend in a secret liason at some upper class hotel, Who downright refuses to go head to head with her opposite number on live TV.... has kept NONE of her pre-erection promises, simply cannot answer a straight question,

It may also be much sooner than we think. A 65% approval rating despite all the well informed naysayers here and her Burberry fashion sense............ Looks pretty solid to me. birdpooguava
As with the 65% I agree, she is doing a fine job. I just love the way that AV & his boys continue their malicious attacks on the Shinawatras to their own detriment. When will they learn?

slapout
The polls which show support for the present leader or government seem timely in that they seem to follow, post haste, some snafu that the PM or some other member of pit crew has made/uttered. The two highest ratings??? went to a fellow who is blamed for a run of mouth, which resulted in a border crossing, closing.. The other just told the public that the increase of price of goods was not really affecting them as everything is under control. Then top it off with a unlisted percent of support for a fellow whose mother has no good words for. These polls are about as predictable as the photo sessions we see on a regular bases of the PM and big brother, with their pledges of all the wonderful things the are, have and will accomplish, if things are done their way. bigbamboo
Yingluck's 65 per cent looks impressive, not many national leaders could manage that. However, then you see that Oddjob gets a 57 per cent, which makes you wonder who is doing the voting.
wdr
The propaganda machinery is working - perfect. Last visit of German Foreign minister, may be he left some propaganda instruction manuals, leftover from propagand minister Joseph Goebbels. What about Mr. T writing a book with the title: "My Fight" , similiar to Hitler's "Mein Kampf" as Hitler getting popular in Thailand. Will be a "Bestseller"

Every one is entitled to their own opinion but when I saw "and nearly half of the respondents were of an opinion that Jatuporn Prompan should be given an opportunity to be a minister" It pretty well told me that a lot of the people taking part in the poll were clueless as to what is happening. 17 provinces not hard to find 17 red shirt villages. I am glad that the quality of life of so many Thais has improved significantly by her effective management skills as compared to that during that English-educated Wally's time. All her election promises have led to sheer happiness among Thais! Maybe she should write a book, or better find someone to do it for her, of the factors to her success. And wasn't she, the woman of the ordinary Thais, just like her brother, American-educated?

''Forget sex I'm not going through this again'' Not as politely as that I hasten to add, there, some reference to presumed lack of marriage lines at the time of my birth that was included in the comment!! animatic
17 Provinces... Which ones? A most salient point since 17 is less than 1/3 of the 70 plus available, and if you only picked certain ones you are bound to get votes EITHER WAY to fit ANY outcome you wanted. Southern ones versus Issan will, give diametrically opposed outcomes. This is just a red herring.

I have heard from people studying at ABAC that their assessment methodologies are not exactly on par with the international rules of validity and reliability. Some of those involved with these ABAC polls are actually studying there or are graduated from this university and find inferiority the norm. geriatrickid
I have never been a fan of ABAC polls and have stated this repeatedly. However, it is interesting to note that the same people now dismissing the poll outright previously accepted such polls when they showed favourable results for the Democrats or an assessment that was a negative against PTP. What counts are the election ballots and I have a feeling that should an election be called in the next year after the new cabinet ministers have a chance to make an impression, the PTP is going to have an outright majority in both seats and votes. Hopefully, the poll, no matter how unreliable, encourages the Democrats to clean up their act, get focused and try and build a credible, viable alternative.
