Yedjod is loosing its charm, but help is on the way....

Yesterday, while walking in Chiang Rai with no real aim I passed "The Indian".

In the soi of Yedjod going from the Wat to the main street pleasant music caught my ear. I looked down the parking lot I was just passing and to my delight what looked like a cosy little bar has opened its doors. I took my chance and crossed the street to check out this new venue.

Much to my surprise there was the answer to my search; clean, neat bar with cold beer, nice company and good music

I ordered myself a Chang and found out that they also have hookahs for rent. Couldn't hold out on that one.

Sitting on a little terrace. with glass and smoke, I was counting my blessings.

Chiang Rai used to have good places, but for some reason most have lost its touch. This was one of the reasons for my search, the bars I used to go (Coconuts, Catbar) have lost their charm but staying home all the time is also not my cup of tea.

In the same soi as The Indian you can also find 'Hangover's Corner', very relaxing place for a drink and a game of pool in the afternoon. The crowd there is somewhat older and more farang orientated.

Both bars maintain a reasonable price level, better than most of the bars in Yedjod.

So my advice: check out the Yedjod soi, walk a little further than usual and find out for yourself.

Here some pictures of The Indian from last night:
