roamer Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Check this link out and read the comments. You have to play around a bit but my niece got GVA-BKK-LHR this morning for £255. Her flight to Geneva was £55. Note you have to hit the" go to deal" button on link, can't go through Etihad. Useful site to bookmark btw, does turn up some bargains in all sorts of things. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/flights-bangkok-johannesburg-beijing-from-244-return-due-etihad-error-fare-1213799#comments
jalansanitwong Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 The airline is grossing approx 12 cents per KM...????? No wonder the airlines live on subsidies and bailouts
kuripot Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Just checked Geneva-Bangkok return and there is still availability at 489Chf or about £325 return. An easyjet flight from Liverpool to Geneva over the same period is looking at £60 return plus luggage etc. It's whether it's worth the risk of the ezy being cancelled and the hassle of having to check luggage in twice for the different flights

My niece is treating it like a shopping trip and going empty handed anyway Some great deals there though, a colleague of mine still trying to arrange some time off as I type , Tokyo is still available at £375

Seek out the flights via ebookers, but then book the flight dates via the airline website for a better price. £240(CHF 358.85) returning to London. Of course you'll need the right kind of plastic in order to get the best out of the exchange rate. You can get a connecting flight with Easyjet to Geneva with 20kgs of luggage for less than £50. Other cities available. Examples: Johannesburg returning to London £330. to Manchester, £300. Beijing £280 Tokyo £325 Book by the 12th of May, return by the 14th of June.
roamer Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Sorted myself some time off and went for it. £246 for the Etihad flights, £48 for Easyjet= £294. Timings don't work out too bad either. Can't recall ever having a cheaper flight to LOS, this century or last

No I get Interbank rate. The price was varying by a few pounds depending on date and morning or night flight. I couldn't get this flight on the Etihad site, came in at double the price.

Oh I see... you booked via eBookers. I can assure you that the flights were available directly on the Etihad website for less. I cross-checked enough examples to be sure. You would have saved around £10. Not that it matters now. You secured a good enough price anyway. I just prefer to deal direct with the airline, rather than a travel agent, especially as agents like to add booking fees etc.

Most agents will say no refund.
roamer Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 I'd love one of these deals for July. You and me both as that will be the family trip... that would have been a nice saving. Still at least I can deal with stuff on this trip that will leave us with more fun time next trip. Not flown Etihad for a while and was surprised to see some very poor reviews on them recently. Still at this price and travelling alone I can tune out most stuff.... Jiu-Jitsu, after your first post I too checked Etihad and was getting the deals. However by time I was ready to book it was no longer the case for some reason and it was getting past my bedtime !
