AVAILABLE DOMAINS, as of mid-May 2012, using domize.com bot

Note: a few years ago, I secured 72 domain names with hopes of selling some for a profit. Only sold a couple for a bit more than I leased them for, but after losing interest a year later, some of the names shot up in value - after I let them slide. bummer. Anyhow, I'm not going to venture there again, but here is a list I conjured up this morning. Anyone reading this who wants to follow up and secure one or more, is welcome to. Just be sure to put me in your will, when you're worth millions, ha ha.

How did your domain names shoot up in value after you had dropped them?

BTW- Manana.net was registered in 2003 and is currently for sale at $3588, iyoga.net was registered in 2005 and is currently for sale at $2988- I did not bother to check any of the others.

I suggest you check out your magic wand before you do any more conjuring.

With that list I can see how you didn't make any money last time. This is the most hopeless list of domains names I've ever seen. Why are you even wasting your time making a list of domains that you have no intention of buying? If these were valuable then someone would have already bought them. It takes more than a domain to make a great business. A good domain helps, but there are loads of successful businesses so not so good domains. But it doesn't matter. You sound like one of those people thinks that all you need is a domain name and you'll make loads of money. Sounds like you've fallen for those marketing ads about getting rich without doing any actual work. You'd have better luck with a lottery ticket.

ThaisThatBind.com sounds like some kind of BDSM fetish site... That is the only domain on your list that might be worth anything at all. The rest are simply cringeworthily bad.

Well, I did not get oil.com back in 1994 as the USD100 for 2 years was too expensive for student at the time..

To the best of my knowledge domain names were free until 1995?

Could have been -95 or -96 as well. Anyway it was at the time when the domain names costed $100 for 2 year period and that name was not reserved. I'm not sure if 3 letter domain would have been given to an individual at the time. At the time, very few predicted that domain names could have been sold later on.

Just telling it like it is. And some people really do need telling because they seem to think that they can make a million by spending a tenner.

You'd make more flipping burgers for a living.

With .com it was never 2 years. I remember the old Internic, it was $70 per year per domain, you could register one and then you would get a snail mail remittance slip, the first domain i got I had to get a friend to pay because getting a UK bank to write a US cheque was severely problematic for such small amount, you had 30 days to pay it or the domain would lapse,

Actually the $100 for 2 years. Found this to back my memory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Solutions#Registry_and_registrar_business

"In 1995, the National Science Foundation gave Network Solutions authority to charge for domain name registrations. Network Solutions charged $100 for two years registration."

and "In 1997, a lawsuit was filed charging Network Solutions with antitrust violations with regards to domain names. The 30% of the registration fee that went to the NSF was ruled by a court to be an illegal tax. This led to a reduction in the domain name registration fee to $70."

Like a lot of things related to commerce, some people make money with domain name leasing and selling, most don't. If you choose to look at it as an empty glass (neither half full nor half empty) then that's up 2 u.

Anyway, I doubt if it would sell for much less than 1 to 2 million dollars today so no real loss! smile.png
