Lampang...Is There Anybody Out There?

Featured Replies

Hey guys! I just moved to Lampang from Chicago, Illinois and I'm beginning to feel like I'm the only foreigner here. I moved out here to teach English and I read that usually people will take a day trip from Chiang Mai and not stay long, but there has to be somebody here, right? So, I'm just throwing this thread out there. If you live in Lampang and you're reading this, send me a message and let's meet up!

LOL. I've been to Lampang a few times. On about 3 occasions I never saw another farang during the entire time I was there (which never exceeded one day).

Take a trip to C.M. and have a good time. Lots going on here... Welcome aboard Jenny!

Me too. It was like heaven.

Jenny: Suggest you do some weekend trips to Chiang Mai? Grab a bus Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon. Chiang Mai has a much more international feel to it; let me know if you'd like some Chiang Mai specific recommendations. (assuming you prefer a bit younger crowd.)

Seemed to me when I was there that there had to be a lot of foreigners with all the signs I saw in English. Maybe check some of those places out.

If you are looking for lots of different things to do Chiang Mai can give you a lot. But if it is not the night life you are looking for you will soon tire of it also.

Perhaps your age will make a big difference. You didn't tell us that.

Thanks for the comments! I'm 25 and not necessarily looking for night life, just for some buddies. I actually JUST met a fellow farang right down the hall from my apartment...yay for me! He said there are people here, they're just hiding...hahaha. And yes, I am planning on visiting Chiang Mai soon.

But again, if you're reading this and living here...let's meet up! :)

Hi Jenny,

I don't live in Lampang but know a really nice man who runs a fantastic project for homeless children there. I'll pm you the details. Oops, just realised it's in Lamphun, not Lampang..not too far perhaps?

No, that's far; once you're in Lamphun you might as well continue to Chiang Mai..

Hi Jenny,

I do live in Amphur Muang Lampang, married to a local and been here for over 4 years. Apart from my wife wanting to stay here, It's precisely because there aren't too many foreigners and it's quiet, that I really like it. Chiang Mai is close enough if we need serious shopping. If you don't mind chatting or befriending someone knocking on the door of 50 then please PM me.

Jenny,

My wife's family is from Lampang. When we are visiting we see falangs shopping at Big C routinely. I will admit that we see few young people your age but we do occasionally. I love it when we are in Lampang visiting but I'm not sure I would be able to live there for an extended period of time. Good luck.
