Israel's Smotrich says victory means Gaza fully 'destroyed'
As @bannork posted, PM Martin states that he has condemned the horrific Hamas attack on Israel and demanded the release of the hostages, but he also calls the restriction on food and aid from entering Gaza for almost two months and the war waged by Israel on Gaza and its impact on the civilian population especially on the children as a loss of moral compass and beyond comprehension. The article you cited as an answer to the post of @bannork is a perfect example how any kind of discussions about and criticism of Israel is handled today (although that article criticised president Michael D Higgins in most parts and not Michael Martin, who is described as "one of the most decent of Irish politicians" and not as a leprechaun.) Despite the fact that Martin solely criticised the warfare of Israel, not the whole country, now suddenly Ireland is framed as the most antisemitic country in EU. Even the US Department of State defines antisemitism as „a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”“ and clearly states: "However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic" https://www.state.gov/defining-antisemitism/ Just because the PM criticises the massacring and starving of tens of thousands of Palestinian children, allegations like antisemitic or Jew hater are made assuming the Irish have some kind of “Jews crucified Jesus” prejudice. This is such an insult to the reader`s intelligence. It's pathetic and ridiculous. One guy criticises the ongoing mass murder of children and then someone says, “Oh, that is only because he thinks the murderers killed Jesus some 2000 years ago”. Really? You want us to believe that is the reason? And back to that guy, whose name sounds like something that came out of my nose, Smotrich, let's not forget that he supported the starving of the people in Gaza https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/aug/08/israel-finance-minister-bezalel-smotrich-gaza-starve-2m-people-comments and when those reservists were detained, because they had gang raped, sodomized and heavily injured a Palestinian prisoner, Smotrich wrote on X “I’m calling on the chief military prosecutor, get your hands off the reservists.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/07/29/israel-gaza-prison-sde-teiman/ My personal opinion on the whole Gaza conflict is: if you condemn, same as me, the horrific attack and mass murder of the Israeli civilians on October 7 in 2023, then you must, same as me, condemn the ongoing attacks and mass murder of the Palestinian civilians since October 7 in 2023, maybe even more so, when looking at the numbers of those killed. However if you only condemn the attack on Israeli civilians but condone or even support the ongoing attack on the civilians in Gaza, the killing of more than 15,000 children, then you value Israeli life over Palestinian, which makes you a textbook racist. -
