Maybe I could add that when we have visitors staying with us in our home here in Thailand we often send them Landing card filled in with our address.

Of course they are competent and able to do it on arrival, but it saves them the hassle of scratching around for our address on arrival after a twelve hour flight or in the later stages of their time on the aircraft.

And having a uni degree bob has zero bearing on your ability to fill out forms in Thai.

You are suggesting that by suggesting something that makes someones life easier is a bad thing to do. At worst harmless. At best reducing stress levels.

I am sure you do it A: Because old gits are like that and B: Because you mean well and you are helping out your mates.

Good on you, and not a hint in there that you do it A: Because you friends' lack confidence (due to nationality) or B: That lack of confidence outsrips there ability to answer simple questions in a language they are reasonably comptentent in.

No, Bob, I think you need to read up a little. Less haste and more care, Bob when responding. I jut find it terribly condscending that someone would suggest that this women, based soleyly on her nationality, would lack the confidence to answer very simple questions a 12 year old Thai kid could master. I also find it further insulting that the suggestion could then develop into an explanation that the women does in fact have good English skills but would be so panicked by a plane journey that she would forget all of those skills and be unable to answer such very simple questions without making dire mistakes.

You are starting to sound like one of those weird men.
