thaibebop
Everyone has at some time or another found wisdom in song lyrics. We have quoted lines from our favorite songs because they fit the situation, or really do have a spot of wisdom to share, or just because the are that cool. I have come across many members here who love to use song lyrics in their posts or sometimes post whole songs. I like to share musical tastes with people because I believe music is important to us personally and shows some of our personality. So, how about a thread for our favorite song lyrics that we want to share but maybe have not found the right time and place to do so. Feel free to write as much of the song as you want, and of course no limits on any music, all kinds welcome. Also, post songs that aren't written in english, that's fine as well. If you can translate though that would be cool. I will start it off with Guns N' Roses. It's from the song Don't ###### Me from Use Your Illusion I. I know many people may not think so, but Axel wrote some really good stuff. I know you don't wanna hear cryin' an I know you don't wanna hear me deny that you satisfaction lies in your illusions but your delusions are yours and not mine. We take for granted we know the whole story we judge a book by it's cover and read what we want between selected lines.
chonabot
Heres a line I stole and put into one of my songs a few years ago , it might comfort those who are out of love perhaps? See if you can guess from where the line was nicked ( without using google ) ps the 2nd verse is mine. If love was a choice Who would ever choose Such Exquisite pain ? So take these hands And let us try To make the best of what we almost had.... Edited January 4, 2006 by chonabot

Glauka
Les Jours Tristes It's hard, hard, not to sit on your hands, burrow your head in the sand, hard, not to make other plans and claim that you?ve done all you can, all alone and life must go on. Its hard, hard, to stand up for what's right and bring home the bacon each night, hard, not to break down and cry, when every ideal that you tried has been wrong. But you must carry on. It's hard, but you know it's worth the fight, cause you know you?ve got the truth on your side, when the accusations fly. Hold tight! Don't be afraid of what they'll say. Who cares what cowards think anyway, They will understand some day, some day. It's hard, hard, when you're here all alone and everyone else's gone home. Harder to know right from wrong when all objectivity's gone and it's gone. But you still carry on. 'cause you, you are the only one left and you've got to clean up this mess. You know you'll end up like the rest Bitter and twisted - unless you stay strong And you carry on. It's hard, but you know it's worth the fight, cause you know you've got the truth on your side, when the accusations fly. Hold tight! Don't be afraid of what they'll say. Who cares what cowards think anyway, They will understand some day, some day.

redrus
One for all of you who have tried to get the one you're with in a better mood. Now then Mardy Bum I see your frown And it's like looking down the barrel of a gun And it goes off And out come all these words Oh there's a very pleasant side to you A side I much prefer It's one that laughs and jokes around Remember cuddles in the kitchen Yeah, to get things off the ground And it was up, up and away Oh, but it's right hard to remember That on a day like today when you're all argumentative And you've got the face on Well now then Mardy Bum Oh I'm in trouble again, aren't I I thought as much Cause you turned over there Pulling that silent disappointment face The one that I can't bear Can't we laugh and joke around Remember cuddles in the kitchen Yeah, to get things off the ground And it was up, up and away Oh, but it's right hard to remember That on a day like today when you're all argumentative And you've got the face on Yeah I'm sorry I was late Well I missed the train And then the traffic was a state And I can't be arsed to carry on in this debate That reoccurs ,oh when you say I don't care Well of course I do, yeah I clearly do! So laugh and joke around Remember cuddles in the kitchen Yeah, to get things off the ground And it was up, up and away Still it's right hard to remember That on a day like today when you're all argumentative And you've got the face on redrus it just makes me smile. Death Or Glory The Clash (strummer/jones) Every cheap hood strikes a bargain with the World And ends up making payments on a sofa or a girl Love ’n’ hate tattooed across the knuckles of his hands The hands that slap his kids around ’cause they don’t understand How death or glory becomes just another story How death or glory becomes just another story ’n’ every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock ’n’ roll Grabs the mike to tell us he’ll die before he’s sold But I believe in this-and it’s been tested by research That he who fukks nuns will later join the church From every dingy basement on every dingy street I hear every dragging handclap over every dragging beat That’s just the beat of time-the beat that must go on If you been trying for years-then we already heard your song
the_heart_thief
I should have been a cowboy. I should have learned to rope and ride.................. Whiskey for my men and beer for my horses........... Too many people running running around the planet. Why does it have to happen that you find your way through mine. Tell me what is this sweet sensation it's a miracles it's happened. Though I search for an explaination only one thing that could be. Coz I was born for you it was written in the stars. And in this random world it was clearly meant to be. Like as if the powers of the Univers conspired to make you mine. Until the day I die I bless the day that I was born for you. Too many foolish people trying to come between us. Non of this really matter coz you found your way through mine. Though I search for an explaination I could never find the answers ....................................... .............................................. That I was born for you and that you were born for me. And in this random world it was clearly meant to be. What the world could never understand or ever take away. See also my signature...it is from Geldof's song Attitude Chicken. Thinking about it, Geldof also had plenty of jewels in his writing, check it out: http://bob-geldof.lyrics-songs.com/ I left the pub last night And I was just in time To see them break my windows And slash my tyres I'm a liberal I thought As I felt my anger rise I was desperately searching For my feminine side But my feminine side Was on her morning coffee break I beat the shit out of one And boy, I felt great Hey Bob, he said don't get annoyed We all find different ways To fill up the void And I said yeah

Patsycat
Well, I thought it was written by Van Morrison, but actually by Rod Stewart (cringe) but I still like and have good memories when I hear it sung by Van the Man... here goes ... Have I told you lately that I love you? Have I told you there's no one above you? Fill my heart with gladness, take away my sadness, that's what you do, For the morning sun in all it's glory, Meets the day with hope and comfort too, You fill my life with laughter, somehow you make it better, Ease my troubles, that's what you do There's a love less defined, And its yours and its mine Like the sun. And at the end of the day, We should give thanks and pray, To the one, to the one And i didn't download all that i typed it out with my own fair hands!!! xxx

I should be ashamed of myself really. Especially since I love his music and (i dig a deeper hole) I was born in Belfast... I say no more!!! lovejoy
In my memory I will always see the town that I have loved so well Where our school played ball by the gasyard wall and we laughed through the smoke and the smell Going home in the rain, running up the dark lane past the jail and down behind the fountain Those were happy days in so many, many ways in the town I loved so well In the early morning the shirt factory horn called women from Creggan, the Moor and the Bog While the men on the dole played a mother's role, fed the children and then trained the dogs And when times got tough there was just about enough But they saw it through without complaining For deep inside was a burning pride in the town I loved so well There was music there in the Derry air like a language that we all could understand I remember the day when I earned my first pay And I played in a small pick-up band There I spent my youth and to tell you the truth I was sad to leave it all behind me For I learned about life and I'd found a wife in the town I loved so well But when I returned how my eyes have burned to see how a town could be brought to its knees By the armoured cars and the bombed out bars and the gas that hangs on to every tree Now the army's installed by that old gasyard wall and the damned barbed wire gets higher and higher With their tanks and their guns, oh my God, what have they done to the town I loved so well Now the music's gone but they carry on For their spirit's been bruised, never broken They will not forget but their hearts are set on tomorrow and peace once again For what's done is done and what's won is won and what's lost is lost and gone forever I can only pray for a bright, brand new day in the town I loved so well Phil Coulter Edited January 8, 2006 by lovejoy
