Thaddeus
So, further musical wisdom... And again.... Oki dokey. Rows and rows of disused milk floatsStand dying in the dairy yard And a hundred lonely housewives clutch empty milk Bottles to their hearts Hanging out their old love letters on the line to dry Its enough to make you stop believing when tears come Fast and furious In a town called malice. The Jam (I like sound-bites...... it's those dreary 15 minute reports that get me down) P.S....... I'm listening to this right now....... god bless Apple...... god bless iTunes...... Bill Gates can swim in his own filth for all eternity.... I hope he isn't a Buddhist Edited August 21, 2006 by Thaddeus
kayo
Thadd, I saw your last lyrics adn reminds me of htis song by one of my fav bands, Os paralamas Do Sucesso: It`s about a shanty town called Manguetown Rough translation: Threaded in the mud Is a dirty quarter where Urubus has house and I do not have a wing. But I am here in my house where Urubus has wings I go painting, holding the wall in the fen of my Manguetown yard Walking among the alleys walking in collective nobody that runs away to the smell of dirt, of the mud of manguetown Walking among the alleys walking in collective nobody that runs away to the dirty life of the days from manguetown This night I will leave I go to drink with my friends... Ha! And with the wings that Urubus had given to the day I will fly for all the periphery I go dreaming of the woman who I perhaps can find and I also goes to walk in the mud of my Manguetown yard Walking among the alleys walking in collective nobody I run away to the smell of dirt of the mud of manguetown Walking among the alleys walking in collective nobody I run away to the dirty life of the days from manguetown Walking among the alleys walking in collective nobody..etc.. redrus
War Baby; Tom Robinson. Only the very young and the very beautiful can be so aloof Hanging out with the boys, all swagger and poise I don't even care what other people are there I just stare and stare and stare I see your shadow in the swimming pool I see your face in the shaving mirror Time and time and time again I follow your footsteps so quietly up the backstairs And I hope and I pray you're never going to find me there Smooth skin and tenderness long ago on a dark night Wish I could see you once again just to remember it was true I want to be still beside you - quiet and still beside you Listening to your breathing and feeling your warmth again War baby - you were a War baby - this means War baby - I'm scared, so scared Of whatever it is you keep putting me through I don't think I could stand another ten years of this fighting All this stabbing and wounding - only getting my own back I don't want to batter you to your feet and knees and elbows When I'm kneeling like a candle at the foot of my own bed Corresponding disasters every night on the TV Sickening reality keeps gripping me in its guts All my friends talk and joke and laugh about Armageddon But like a nightmare it's still waiting there at the end of every day War baby... etc. I don't think I could stand another ten years of this fighting All this stabbing and wounding - only getting my own back But later that same evening we were out in the car talking When I suddenly wondered who the hel_l it was we were trying to fool Co you were the first one that I ever wanted And it's you I come home to at the end of every day Like a mother-sucking baby, demanding and so helpless A little old balding man, all wrinkles and bulging eyes War baby... etc. TUNE....!!!! redrus
kayo
nice drus.. Okay, Gonna do another translation here: ù Not strictly wisdom, but sweet melancholy We agreed to meet again in ten years, Same Day, same time, same same We'll see eachother when we're thirty On the steps of the Great Peoples' Square The day arrived and so did I But I don't wanna be the first What IF we had nothing to say, and what if, what if...? I make some detours in the neighbourhood It's funny how a sunset of the spring Reminds me of the same sunset of ten years ago Sidewalks used by downturned faces What did I do with all these years? I didn't float calmly on the water And I didn't swim with the wind behind me Last straight, the Whistler's Road (similar) Ok! How many will be there? 4, 3, 2, 1, Zero! We agreed to meet again in ten years, Same Day, same time, same same We'll see eachother when we're thirty On the steps of the Great Peoples' Square I so often desired her The beautiful Severine, will she see me? Eric wanted to dive into the subconcsious; Does he surface from time to time? I feared to cross the mirror, If I hadn't of gone, I'd of missed an evening In front of an Antique Store window I imagine the encountered renewed friendships "You've not changed, what have you become?" "You got married, with three kids! " "You've succeeded, you a Doctor" "And you Pascale, You still crack up for no reason?!" Chorus "I've known High tides, and Low tides Like you, like you and you I've known Hurricanes and Droughts Like you, like you and you Every Love that died replaced by a new Love And you? And you? And you? " "And you Marco, Who's sole ambition was to be happy in your life? Did you win your bet?" "And you Francis, and you Lawrence, and you Marion? And you Bruno? And you JJ? and you Evelyn? "Well that's great my friends!" "We'vetold eachother all, and we shake hands!" We can'tjust put ten years on the table, As we shuffle our letters in scrabble! In this Window I see the reflection Of a High school girl If she goes to the left, I'll follow her. If she goes to the right, .... Wait for me.... Wait for me.... Wait for me.... Chorus.... and (to the girl) what say we meet in ten years... I like this tune. He never actuallymeets his old friends. He imagines it so beautifully though. redrus
Squeeze; Up the Junction. (Just read em, quality ) difford/tilbrook) I never thought it would happen With me and the girl from clapham Out on a windy common That night I aint forgotten When she dealt out the rations With some or other passions I said you are a lady Perhaps she said I may be We moved into a basement With thoughts of our engagement We stayed in by the telly Although the room was smelly We spent our time just kissing The railway arms were missing But love had got us hooked up And all our time it took up I got a job with stanley He said Id come in handy And started me on monday So I had a bath on sunday I worked eleven hours And bought the girl some flowers She said shed seen a doctor And nothing now could stop her I worked all through the winter The weather brass and bitter I put away a tenner Each week to make her better And when the time was ready We had to sell the telly Late evenings by the fire With little kicks inside her This morning at 4:50 I took her rather nifty Down to an incubator Where thirty minutes later She gave birth to a daughter Within a year a walker She looked just like her mother If there could be another And now shes two years older Her mothers with a soldier She left me when my drinking Became a proper stinging The devil came and took me From bar to street to bookie No more nights by the telly No more nights nappies smelling Alone here in the kitchen I feel theres something missing Id beg for some forgiveness But beggings not my business And she wont write a letter Although I always tell her And so its my assumption Im really up the junction.................. Told ya...... redrus

eddie11
'When Your'e Young' Life is timeless, days are long when you're young You used to fall in love with everyone Any guitar and any bass drum Life is a drink and you get drunk when you're young Life is new and there's things to be done You can't wait to be grown up Acceptance into the capital world You pull on some weed, then you pull on someone when you're young But you find out life isn't like that It's so hard to comprehend Why you set up your dreams to have them smashed in the end But you don't mind you've got time on your side And they're never gonna make you stand in line You're just waiting for the right time You're fearless and brave - you can't be stopped when you're young You swear you're never ever gonna work for someone No corporations for the new age sons Tears of rage roll down your face But still you say "it's fun" And you find out life isn't like that It's so hard to understand Why the world is your oyster but your future's a clam It's got you in its grip before your born It's done with the use of a dice and a board They let you think you're king but you're really a pawn You're fearless and brave - you can't be stopped when you're young You used to fall in love with everyone Any guitar and any bass drum The Jam Classic
coldcrush
The Verve Lyrics History I wander lonely streets Behind where the old Thames does flow And in every face I meet Reminds me of what I have run from In every man, in every hand In every kiss, you understand That living is for other men I hope you two will understand I've got to tell you my tale Of how I loved and how I failed I hope you understand I've got to tell you my tale Of how I loved and how I failed I hope you understand These feelings should not be in the man In every child, in every eye In every sky, above my head I hope that I know So come with me in bed Because it's you and me, we're history There ain't nothing left to say When I will get you alone Maybe we could find a room Where we could see what we should do Maybe you know it's true Living with me is like keeping a fool< In every man, in every hand In every kiss, you understand That living is for other men I hope you know that I am me so come on I'm thinking about history And I'm living for history And I think you know about me Cause I am And one and one is two But three is company When you're thinking about the things you do And you're thinking about the things you do I want to tell you my tale How I fell in love and jumped out on my bail I hope you understand there's more in a smile than in a hand In every sky, in every kiss There's something that I might have missed Why am I going to A place that now belongs to you But you were weak and so was I Let's pick it up, let's even try To live today, so why not smile Don't dream away your life 'Cause it is mine Is that a crime (repeat) this life is mine The bed ain't made but it's filled full of hope I've got a skin full of dope
