simon43
I travelled up to BKK on Sunday and back today (Tuesday 29th May). The main road to PhangNga is closed on one carriageway for about 3kms in length, and there is a film crew on-site. Any ideas? Just curious Simon
NomadJoe
Were the crew foreign or Thai? If it's a major Hollywood movie I would guess The Railroad Man. http://www.movieinsider.com/production-status/production/ http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1821062 . simon43
Hmm, I'm not sure how 3km of tarmaced road can be made to look like the Death Railway. I will have to go and take another look...

If there's a casting call looking for exxpats, we'll know it's this one. I knew a few people that were expats in the tsunami movie and they had to get up early, stay all day and made between 1K-2K/day depending on their role. But, they said, they got free food. Hmm, I'm not sure how 3km of tarmaced road can be made to look like the Death Railway. I will have to go and take another look... Seriously guys? I wasn't saying they are filming the whole movie there. Not every scene in the movie is going to have a railway in it. And when they start there is no railway right? They have to build it. Secondly, believe it or not, not everything you see in a movie is real. They fabricate things called "sets" or can even use CGI. It's not uncommon to see filming around California where I am from where whole roads are closed off for a day just to get a very short sequence of shots. What Phuket has is an international airport and 4-5 star resorts making it very convenient which is why you see so many movies filmed in this area. I don't think much of it will be filmed in Burma. madmitch
Passed this a couple of days ago as well. The missus was convinced they'd be filming a Thai soap (lakorn) as they do like a beach location as a nice backdrop for the shootings, stabbings, wife-beatings and occasional comedy skits with ladyboys, geeks and fat people. Guest
There was an movie crew at the Phuket private airport at Paklok. I talked shortly with one of the film crew and he said that they have been filming at Phang nga highway (I suppose the Sarasin bridge as well) and they are going to do some shooting at Patong as well. Movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ek_Tha_Tiger http://www.yashrajfilms.com/microsites/ett/index.html http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2016894/ Interestingly there was signs 'Peligro' and few Cuban flags present. MissChris
Who knows? Might be Somboon having a private movie made. Theme: Watch the traffic chaos when you take your herd of elephants for a stroll along the highway. The wrong way.
