Well WE BRITS know it just isn't the case so WHO ARE the great "Unwashed"

Who are the smelliest Farangs in Thailand?

I would have done a Poll but the Poll Button seems to have dissappeared today :D

I think theirs a difference re aversion to water and body odor.

Some unamed nationalaties definitely need to use deodorant regularly thats for sure.

Arsenal don't wear red shirts now, they wear Claret shirts, Arsenal won many more trophies when they had more Frenchmen in the team as opposing players would try to give them as wider birth as possible :D

Soapdodger:

A term derived to represent the British people, in Prisons worldwide.

The Americans and Australians worked long and hard on coming up with this term, as their were continually angered at the fact that the british did NOT infact, bend over in communal showers to pick up the soap. The americans and Australians thereafter mastered the art of Masturbation.

I don't think europeans smell better or worse than the Brit's :o

Apart from obvious BO and lack of bathing different nationallities do smell different depending on the diet and spice intake . When I lived in Korea 1980 at the begining even after a shower I still smelt of warm slightly sour milk to the Koreans but after 3 months eating only Korean food my smell changed .The clearest illustration of this was when I went out on the town in Korea with my Korean mates from work I was refused entry into a Korean only club , my friends talked to the door man who came across to me and sniffed me smiled and let me in to the club.

Later it was explain that my friends had said l....let him in he is one of us, he does not even smell like a forgeiner .

The down side of this after a full 6 months when I returned to UK my old dog bit me as I entered the house and my lady friend said it was like sleeping with someone else it was not me ...2 weeks of cheese, milk and chocolate, and processed sugars soon corrected the smell . But I still love Korean food and like a junkie have to have a Kimchi fix on a regular basis.

I dunno... One of my ex girlfriends was from New Mexico.

Hondurans aren´t renowned for being particular about hygiene... Oh and then there was that French girl.....

Guatemala City Girls are stunners though, in so many ways...

Sounds wierd doesn´t it... Who would ever picture their dream date being somebody from the Capital of Guatemala...

Danes, Philipinas, Thais, even maybe Dutch... but Guatemalans.... They are darn cute..

Thats funny :o your own dog bit you . I also like kinchi but if I ever started smelling like it I would quit .

I also agree that it might have someting to do with what you eat however some people smell like they have been eatting skunk .

Not according to"The Fatal Shore". Apparently picking up the soap was a very popular pastime among the pomme convicts.

I'm going to give you all one of the Secrets of the Temple.

So pay attention.

When being pestered by a damsel for a drink, discreetly push your mobile phone down the back of your trousers - between your sub tropical buttocks.

Then say

"Hey smell this"

She will smell it because its a phone, not your finger or anything weird or suspicious.

One nanosecond later her eyes will cross, she'll leave and you'll be left in peace.

It works on traffic cops too.

Gee...Dale Carnagie never mentioned that trick in his 'How To Win Friends And Influence People'! :o

I thought this was going to be another backpacker thread.

The poms just don't wash in cold weather, in the warmer climes they seem to get very paranoid about being sweaty. The great unwashed come from many places (see backpacker thread). I have discovered that some people are convinced that a "fragrance" is a substitute to a bath. :o

Certainly I am not one of the great unwashed. Taking a shower 2-3 times a day is not uncommon for me. I am clean to a fault.

Spend a lot of time in Soi 6 do you?? :o:D

I wish! :D

I have found Arabs to be particulary unclean.....I worked with one that had a pair of work undies....everyday he would take them off after work and put them in the back pocket of his overalls....and put them on the next day.....they never left the workplace in the 6 months he was there.

The "soapdodger" soubriquet is entirely an Australian term for Poms.I have never heard the expression or sentiment for that matter expressed anywhere else.It probably derives from the fact that, until recently, most Australians mainly descended from poor and criminal working class British and Irish backgrounds, and thus have a fairly smelly ancestral line which they dimly associate with the Brits. If like the USA immigration from UK ranged across all classes from labourer to aristocrat I doubt whether the soapdodger label would be relevant.Of course the Yanks say the Brits have bad teeth but thats another story.
