Wp Below Income Requirement Doing Visa Runs Every 90 Days Possible Or Not

This is post I refer to

There is no set minimum salary in Thailand for foreigners to be issued a WP by the LABOUR department...and before you respond and start going on about THB 50k/60k month for westerners...these amounts is for extension of stay on the basis of employment which is an IMMIGRATION requirement.

If someone does not qualify for extension of stay for the purposes of employment...ie not being paid enough..they can still get a WP, but will need to "visa run" every 90 days

In conclusion there are no goverment gazetted salary criteria published for foreigns to be employed in Thailand

It will depend on your local labour office.

Until this year it was OK on Koh Samui, the new boss wants all WP holders now to have the same requirements as immigrations.

My friend used to pay taxes on an income of 30.000 baht and went once per year to KL to get a multiple entry non-B.

No Thai employees.

So, yes it is possible.

For some categories no minimum income salary is required by immigration. The income requirement only applies for people applying for an extension of stay based on 2.1 of the current police order.

Teachers, members of the media, people working for the government, do not require a minimum income.

Labour may stipulate a minimum salary when you are negotiating the WP, but as a rule it is only immigration that require this for certain Extensions of Permission to Stay and if so you may have to get Labour add the minimum figure towards the back of your WP booklet.

There is nothing to stop you having a smaller salary, WP and a Multi Entry Non Immigrant B while doing three monthly border runs, then appling for a new Non B Visa annually (possibly even every 15 months depending on your WP Validity).

Multi Entry Visa issue can be a problem in S.E. Asia, but KL is currently fine with the correct paper work and there are reports of successes in other areas in this region as well.

So somebody with a PR could in fact work for a standard Thai salary?

That an advantage IMHO.

Thanks for the replies.

Labour does not stipulate anything, however for certain jobs there is an "expectation"....i.e. to issue a WP to someone who will be working in O&G in Thailand there is an "expectation" and the "magic number" is around THB 80k/m to get the WP issued from labour,

(this applies to BKK labour departments only, as far as I am aware) this is not written down anywhere and most certainly isnt a "Law"

Net result is that Labor can, and does, set its own salary requirement to issue a work permit (even if they do not stipulate in public documents). And from my reading this applies much more widely than Bangkok.

There is no minimum salary for an extension based upon marriage to a Thai. You can put money in bank or prove 40K income by way of income document from embassy/consulate.

Perhaps I am reading above post wrong but actually for a Thai wife extension of stay (which is based on marriage) there is a requirement for 40k per month income of husband; as you refer to, or having 400k in a bank account for 2 months.

Do you perhaps mean both are not required?

Either 400K in bank or 40K income.

If you have 40K baht income from working you can use tax payment if you have work permit. But if you have other income that can be proven by an income document then salary could be much lower.

Some embassies/consulates might allow you to combine other income with your salary.
