Before making the bid for Fabregas, Moyes considered a move for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric - who was a United target when at previous club Spurs - although he is understood to no longer be an option.

just a thought.

We all have our teams and our motives, but it is still quite interesting for punters to discuss how would united, or Chelsea, or spurs or any other team come to that , be better.

Point from LK, completely understood.

respect.

It appears many of the Manchester United detractors are concerned about United's midfield.

All will be resolved in the fullness of time.

In Moyes we now trust.

(When you've followed a team as long as I have you just become a believer)

The-Devil-devil-fire-monster-smiley-emot

I applaud your optimism Ken wai.gif

Should the sentence not be, however......................."In Moyes we now trust, until Christmas anyway"

I can't see Wayne doing it at Man U in the shadow of RVP.

That would be asking a lot of any player.

IMHO I think he needs to get out from under the shadow and do his stuff for the next 3-4 years like rijit says.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he went to Chelsea.

In fairness to Moyes, if Rooney can't accept that on current form alone he second in the pecking list, (despite RVP being a better player anyway) whats the manager to do?

Theres not a manager in the league that would pick Rooney over Van Persie. Rooney's getting paid 250k per week which tells me he should give 100% regardless or do one. If i were a Utd fan i'd be sick of his petulant antics and would want rid of him. He just throws the toys out the moment his perceived God given right to start is called into question.

Right now the last thing Moyes or Utd need is a loose canon like Rooney unsettling everyone

rooney vp as 1 st choice striker, no contest ATM vp but ask the same question for c/m lhs/m rhs/m or deeper ide have to go rooney, if only for his mobility and aggression and probably slightly better distribution,. as for equating his wages to effort, as fans we'd like that it should work, but in realitry we all know it doesn't, as much as anything it reflects his marketability.

and rooney throwing his toys out of his pram!!!!!, slight exaggeration there mate, he's falling down the pecking order, he's been top dog since what? 16? and as per human nature his prides hurt, so he wants away, fergie cunningly changes his mind, but nothing changes and he wants away again, fergie side steps and gives the prob 2 moyes. MAate It dont unsettle the dressing room, players are used to it, its part of their world, i would say every other week there are changes in the dressing room, long term injuries, sold, bought, loaned in loaned out, to them its part off their world, from the quite words i've had with players and my memories of being in a competitive environment, its a motivation and looked at as an opportunity 2 be pursued .Probably more unsettling for fans than players, ie the loyalty transference thingy , it dont work the same for players as it does for the fans.

.IMO, if Rooney had been smartcheesy.gif , he wouldn't have fallen for fogies flannel or moyes come to that, cos his gut reaction was right, aka moyes recent little hint and moved , had a good pre season and settled in for a vv productive season, whereas now !!!!

Is their any fuc_king Spanish midfielders that are available and want to come to United?

As I said here when Moyes was appointed, if there was another top team (with a top class manager) competing with United for a world class player, would that player choose to play for Moyes. I feared they wouldn't.

I hope I'm wrong, and it's early days at the moment, but that appears to be happening.

I still think Moyes is a very good coach but worry that he'll have to prove himself capable with the 'big boys' first before the really top class players will want to come.

Well JD, let me ask you the question...why on earth would be want to leave to go back to England when he's only recently returned to a happy life at his boyhood club. Plays regular football, it keeps him constantly in touch with the national side, he's paid a fortune and has a great chance of silverware. Why on earth would he want away to OT?

if he ever made an unlikely return to the premier league i think he'd go back to Arsenal if Wenger was the manager

Seems like carms was spot on, so perhaps your not such a big attraction as you use to be whistling.gif best you start lowering your sights to players like Fellaini laugh.png

<deleted>. They wouldn't come for a knight of the realm so why would they come for an ex-Everton manager with a dodgy accent?

His taste in wine is suspect as well I hear! biggrin.png

Don't know why you're saying <deleted> Smokie. If you take the time to read my post properly you'll see I've suggested exactly the same as what you've said. I just recognize that Moyes is a good manager, but not the right one.

I'm repeating what I said weeks ago, saying that despite Moyes being a good coach, to entice the top players, as well as being one of the top clubs in Europe you need a proven manager with a world wide reputation as well (which is what Bayern have done in appointing Guardiola).

In appointing Moyes we may have appointed a very good coach but I fear he's not somebody who will attract the really best players to Man U.

Thiago has already stated he chose Bayern because Guardiola is the manager and I fear that scenario will keep repeating itself.

Ronaldo has, for example, recently come out and said now is not the right time to move. He wasn't saying that before SAF announced his retirement.

And despite rumours over recent months that Fabregas is unhappy at Barcelona, after Man U reportedly made an offer, he's publicly said he wants to stay.

Is that clear enough for you Smokie?

Thats a fair point.

Moyes, though competent to a degree, will not attract the big name players.

Fellaini, maybe. If he is there next season, maybe he will get Baines to go, but thankfully for the rest of the league, the aura of Ferguson is well and truly over. United are now like a rabid dog under its masters table, fighting for scraps.

Or Bale.

Well actually theres two reasons , no, hold on, three reasons why you would have no chance getting Bale

1 You are not a big enough attraction

2 Madrid want him

3 He wants to win silverware

Fellaini's in your league and is a nailed on Utd player. Someone that you can pump the big long high balls up to.

The way it is going ,i will be happy with Felliani.

I still think Utd will make a big midfield signing but credible options? Not sure. Modric is a very good fit. Knows the league well. He would hit the ground running. 50m would get both Fellaini and Modric, both players that Moyes knows well or has seen a lot of. I reckon they would fill the gaps

PSG have paid $84 Million for Cavani, so presumably can take their pick from Jovetic, Higuain, Suarez, Bale, etc.

Who wants to get in a bidding war with that?

Of those players Bale would cost the most by far.....and I can't see him joining that circus.....he gets ample bananas and a run around twice a week at the Lane. smile.png

How many times do Spurs and Gareth for that matter have to tell you he's staying?

Why would he when the club and the player have reiterated that both parties wish to stay and therefore theres no debate.

Suarez though is another matter. He's clearly read the Luka Modric book of how to engineer a transferthumbsup.gif

Yeah I'm glad now that we never signed him....great player but a complete tool.

I reckon on this thread we should start a swear box for every time Bale's name is mentioned! thumbsup.gif

i think its a mystery to all Spurs fans why his name is still being thrown in the hat. Even Real Madrid have conceded they are going to have to wait.

Especially by clubs who can't afford him. I guess they are bored by their transfer inactivity this summer.....and want the voices in their heads to be heard. blink.png

At least Nads is talking sense at last....aye Fellaini.....but only if they are lucky! laugh.png

PSG is a joke. Lightweight Leonardo is gone, they signed Blanc to a one year contract that is "interim" status though not spelled out as such, overspent for a player who shoulda commanded no more than $50mil, have to contend with the ultimate spoiled brat Ibra who is now want away, and their best player, Thiago, is now maybe want away as well. Chaos.

Shouldn't that say Fellaini?

Or would you be happy with Fellatio instead?

Why don't you give it a rest mate. You're beginning to resemble a troll.
