I am a US citizen who will be traveling to Bangkok in a few months. I want to apply for a one year multiple entry L (tourist) visa to China- does anybody know if this possible to get at the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok?

I know it is more convenient to do in the States, but that is not an option for me because I will not be back in the States for many months.

I also know that it is convenient to get a visa in Hong Kong, but I will already be going to Bangkok for 8 days, and would prefer to get the visa during that trip if possible.

Thanks for any info!

I'm not aware that China gives one-year L visas to Americans in Hong Kong unless they've got a one-year or longer HK visa.

For the one-year L visa, I believe your option, unless you fly back yourself, is to send your passport to an agency in the US, which'll send it back to you after the visa has been issued. Allow about two weeks for this.
