Changing from a non O to an extension based on marriage... can someone please give me everything needed to go to the immigration office.. Thanks in return

I'm going through this at the moment and can only say what the Krabi immi office want.

All the obvious stuff like proof of your income (embassy letter confirmation) or banks signed letter confirming the amount in your account..I assume this has to be at least for the previous 3 months..plus copies of your marriage certificate, relevant passport pages. I was also told to bring along my wife plus another local Thai householder to confirm our marriage was genuine and photos of us at our house. The Immi officer then extended my stay & stamped my passport to show my 'application was pending'.. All very long winded and more complicated than my previous retirement extensions (and they've known me for over 10 years now). Good luck.

Basic list:

TM7 Application x 2 (including photos)

Passport + copies

TM6 + copies (Arrival/Departure card)

Yellow Book + copies (If you have one, not necessary)

Embassy Income letter + copies (if using money from abroad)

Bank Books + copies

Marriage Certificate + copies

Registration in Amphur + copies (done at the time of marriage)

Affirmation to Marry + copies (not always required, but can be asked for)

Map to Residence + copies

Pictures + copies

Wife's ID Card + copies

Wife's Blue book + copies

Wife (original only)

Remember if not using Chaeng Wattana you will need at least one copy of everything, as the stuff is sent to Bangkok for final approval.

It is usually better, if you have the cash, to stay on Retirement as the local officer can approve that straight away, no need to involve Bangkok.

As always in Thailand it can vary from office to office, Beano has pretty much nailed it with the list but also be aware you wont get it on the day, you will be given a 30 day "under consideration" stamp and have to return 30 days later, some times more, for the full stamp. Your wife will also be interviewed.

The best option is to check with the immigration office where you will be applying to find out what they want.

The amount of paperwork and etc. will also depend how long you have been married. Newlyweds are often checked more thoroughly and more paper work is often required.

The waiting period will be 30 days from the date of your current permit to stay.

To get the "full stamp" does wife also have to show up after the 30 days ?

Thanks & cheers.

No, for the full stamp only you and your passport need to be present.

All extensions of stay use a TM.7 and that fee is 1,900 baht. Many people will also obtain a re-entry permit at 1,000 single or 3,800 baht multi entry to allow travel.
