Dim Sum And Bakuteh

Featured Replies

been driving around chiang mai for an hour trying to find a dim sum restaurant but did not see anything except for a place next to central.

Anybody knows one that doeas dim sum but also the bakuteh soup?

BKT is a Malay/KL specialty, I have not seen here in CM.

Closest thing (afaik) is found at Airport Plaza Northern Village food court ...

There's a good dim sum restaurant on ChangKlan road almost opposite the Shangri La - slightly southward, on a corner with all Thai name.

Long time ago there was a Bakuteh restaurant on Suthep road, but that never really took off. Which is too bad, it can be truly heaven.

And it's been so long that I last had it properly in Malaysia that it's now hard to remember exactly what to shoot for when making it myself; Bakuteh recipes and the spices are readily available at markets and supermarkets, and I'm pleased with my efforts, HOWEVER, I also know I need to circle back and re-calibrate with some of the better originals in Malaysia and Singapore so I can fine-tune it better.

Some Chinese restaurants do Chinese style stews that are a bit similar, and also good, but not Bakuteh.

Dim Sum, see the link above; I still need to try the 69 Plaza place, but have been at Fujian many times and that's a solid option, just not quite in the Hong Kong league.
