sriracha john
Thai police officers escort Swiss national Bernhard Rudolf Hager, center, at the Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006. The 53-year-old scuba diving instructor was charged with illegal detention and having sex with minors following his arrest Wednesday in southern Thailand, police said Friday. Swiss man admits to sex with boys January 06 2006 at 02:04PM Bangkok, Thailand - A Swiss scuba diving instructor was arrested in southern Thailand for allegedly committing sex offences against boys, police said on Friday. Acting on a tip from the FBI, Thai authorities detained Bernhard Rudolf Hager, 53, of Zurich on Wednesday at a dive shop in the tsunami-devastated province of Phang Nga, police said. American authorities found a photograph of a Western man molesting a Thai boy on the computer hard drive of a man they had arrested in Wisconsin, said police Colonel Jaruvat Vaisaya. The FBI forwarded the photograph to Thai authorities, who then traced it to Hager, who has lived in Thailand for six years. Police said when they took Hager back to his home in Phang Nga, they found a 13-year-old boy in his bed. Police said Hager admitted paying the boy about $100 (about B4,000) a month and having sex with a string of other minors. Two of the boys Hager allegedly molested came from Phang Nga province's Khao Lak village - the area in Thailand that was worst hit by the 2004 tsunami, Vaisaya said. Hager, who appeared briefly at a police news conference in Bangkok on Friday, made no public comment. He was charged with illegal detention and having sex with minors and faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted. - Sapa-AP Edited January 6, 2006 by sriracha john
the_heart_thief
This old man should rot in jail. I don't have any pity for "child molesters." A dirt-poor region hit by Tsunami with slim chances of recovery is staggering for survival right now. Their only chance of getting-back on their feet is "their children." The Children, they are the future! Through them, old people realize their hopes and dreams. Then, a crazy guy comes to Thailand and starts currupting them, exploiting their weaknesses, shattering their dreams and hopes. (and that of their parents, relatives, neighbors, and society in general.) What is left of them after all these? What will the future be like? (I don't even want to think about it.) girlx
heh? i think boys who are molested by men definitely have it worse than girls- not that both are not horrible, but can you imagine what that might do to a kid's sexual identity? i wish the government condoned slow torture for cases like this. I believe both girls and boys get mentally screwed up.What is worse? I don't know. Each would have there own bad.Unless you were the person being violated, how can you tell which is worse. All I do know is that these crimes should be punished equally. Edited January 6, 2006 by chuchok
Ulysses G.
When I first came to Thailand, I met a girl who worked in one of the King Castle Bars on Patpong. She looked about 20 years old and spoke excellent English, but was actually 15 years old, which wasn't that uncommon at the time. I wasn't interested in her sexually, but she hung around the Malaysia Hotel all the time, where I stayed, and was a friendly sort, so we talked a lot. We got to be pretty good friends and she told me all about herself. Her parents had brought her to Bangkok and pretty much just dumped her on the street when she was 13 and shortly she ended up on Patpong. She told me that she could work elsewhere if she wanted, but was having fun traveling around and making pretty good money at the same time. She didn't think of herself as a victim. I found her to be quite mature and level headed and quite a nice person and I saw her around for a couple of years. Was always running into her at Patpong or in Phuket or Samui on a "working vacation". To make a long story short, I met her again when she was about 25. She was a manager at a big shopping center in Bangkok, was happy, married to a Farang and doing fine. I've run into her a few more times since then and everything has gone well for her. I just hope that she wasn't one of a kind.

We could all sit here and think about the worse things we could do to child molesters, but nothing we do, no matter how horrible and gruesome it will be is good enough for them. They deserve so much worse! Victims and their families carry the long-term emotional and psychological effects of this gruesome acts. That's always the sad part. sriracha john
From Reuters: BANGKOK – Thai police have arrested a 53-year-old Swiss man with hundreds of pornographic videos on suspicion of having sex with underage youths, following leads from the FBI, Thai and American officials said on Friday. Bernhard Rudolf Hager, a dive instructor in the southern Thai town of Khao Lak, was caught on Wednesday with a 13-year-old boy from Myanmar after the FBI alerted Thai police of a suspected Western paedophile living in Thailand, they said. The FBI lead followed a search of a house in Green Bay, Wisconsin last year in which pictures were found on a computer of a Western man wearing a t-shirt saying 'IQ Dive' and having sex with Thai boys, they said. The FBI then asked the Thai police to locate him. 'Through subsequent investigation, we were able to locate and identify that individual and working with the Thai police to obtain a proper legal document to effect his arrest,' Robert Cahill, a Bangkok-based FBI agent, told Reuters. Cahill said authorities still did not know whether Hager, who had lived in Thailand for 10 years, sold the images to other paedophiles or distributed them free of charge. Thai police told a news conference Hager had had sex with the Myanmar boy and two other Thai boys aged 11 and 13 years for more than four years, giving them between 100 to 200 baht ($2.5 to $5) each time. 'We will soon charge him with separating children from their parents and having sex with children aged between 13 and 15 after we have spoken to these boys to find out when they started having sex with him,' Police Major-General Comronwit Toopgrachang told Reuters. Hager would be tried in Thailand, police said. A maximum penalty for each act of child molestation is 10 years in jail and for separating children from their parents is 15 years, he said.
