Wow amazing!

About the boats -- The narrow design reminded me of a dugout, and I was wondering if they were somehow derived from that shape. But I didn't realize those were metal, I thought they were wooden.

I look on the ChiangRai forum as a group of friends or colegues much like those in a workplace. I may not like everything about everyone but with a large group of them I know their strengths and weaknesses, their pleasant and not so pleasant sides. We are all richer from the chance to mingle together.

I used to belong to a photography club. I enjoyed going there. I could show off selected work and I had the chance to receive comments about the technique of the photos. Not many of the comments there were of the "She is a pretty girl", or that is a "nice view type. I look on the photography forum as the equivalent. The concern is on form not substance.

This forum though is more like a workplace. I can show my weekend shots if I like, the party I was with, in my younger days the snap of my latest girlfriend. A grainy shot of a great surfing beach or an out of focus shot of the kangaroo we spent more time taking photos of and talking about than actual shooting on those great shooting trips. We really did give them every chance to walk away then. These photos received different comments, things like..."Does she have a sister" for the shot of the latest girlfriend or those waves look great for the beach shot. Substance was what counted in the workplace as I think it does in this forum.

There is place for both and this board has places for both types.

We may not all be best friends but we all live here in a small community and could make our lives richer and more meaningful if we recognise that the community is more than just ourselves and those we agree with.

You people, living in Chiang Rai, are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of natures wonderland.

Sorry.........did not realise the last post was coming through.

No ducks, ponds have ducks.

I beg your pardon, this is a fish pond.tongue.png No noisy ducks.

Speaking of birds, I did see my first two male Pied Harriers of the year, flying low past the pond this morning. I presume they were not looking for ducks, either.laugh.png

I think the tranquillity, that Chiang Rai generates, would counteract any noise.

It all looks so peaceful.

I love any view over water, even streams and small rivers make it for me.

Plan A was always a house near the the sea, maybe on one of those long empty beaches down south.

I'll admit Plan B hasn't been bad though.

Old photo looking south across the Mekong.

Whoops, missed the chunk of blue chair in the foreground... laugh.png

Edit: What happened was I had the nicely edited version on a photo storage site and when I took the image location it went back to the original shot... have to watch that.

Nice shot/view/sunset in any case

Then again beauty surrounds us, if only we will turn down the noise of life and open our eyes.

Would like to share this film taken in Thailand in January 2012.

Take a moment and imagine seeing this Pied Harrier in flight against a Chiang Rai Sky backdrop, similar to post #351

Enjoy

The sky shots on street view that went live today are not that great but it covers a huge area and will almost put VF out of business for some shots. Well worth checking out on google maps or google earth.

I checked Google out this morning. I don't see VF or anyone else, being put out of business but, there were some good shots.

Gives me some idea what I'll be driving into, when I visit next year

That was very nice of them.wink.png I remember seeing their cars, with the camera on top, in our area and wondering how long it would take them to get loaded up on Google Earth. Only noticed them on the main roads, however, so I think my trail shots are still in business for a while.biggrin.png

For example, I am pretty sure they didn't get out here.thumbsup.gif

The sky is still there but it is looking a bit dull and muted these days with fog that last well into the morning and a haze that lingers for the rest of the day. Here is shot from earlier in the year with a flowering tree against a cloudless sky here in Chiang Rai.
