8 Sleeper trains from Pun Pin 13 km from Surat first leaves 16:46, last leaves 21:30 but not unusual to be running a bit late.

Fare from ~B600 for fan class sleeper, bit more for a/c.

Have searched google back and forth but can't find the car travelling time. Only for a bus like 12-13 hrs minimum.

How long does it take by car from Bangkok to Don Sak ferry port? Is it possible to get there in less then 8 hrs? It seems to be 705 kms.

Which ferry is the better one to get fastest to Bo Phut and is most comfortable?

Thanks a lot for any answer...

Getting out of Bangkok can take a while. Yes it's around 715 K's from the centre of BKK allow yourself around 9 hours including short breaks.

You will waste sometime driving through Suratthani. Best ferry in my opinion is Seatran, I think you got the GPS coordinates from the other thread, ferry trip around 1.30 - 1.45 minutes. From Nathon to Bophut it's around a 20-30 minute drive.

thanks Rooo for the info. That helps planning the correct leaving time. So I guess leaving BKK at 2 to 3 AM should help me in leaving BKK fast.

Sure will & gives you plenty of time for a decent break. Just remember if Seatran is full, head to Raja & buy an open return ticket. That gives you VIP status & you cam line up in the express lane.

I'm sitting here and looking at the tickets as I write this - Samui to BKK 845 baht.

VIP coach leaves from the old ferry pier at Nathon at 1.30 for the 2.00 ferry. Coach continues right on on to Surat Thani railway station, arriving at 4.45-ish. There's a bit of a wait as the sleeper train leaves at 6.30 - but worthwhile as you can get refreshments for the trip from the shops across from the station.

I booked my tickets all in one go from Asia Travel in Nathon but I'm sure that any of Chawengs travel agents will do the same.

(Ask for Phantip bus to Surat Railway station including ferry - sleeper train to BKK)

Have a good trip,

R
