June 17, 201214 yr Hey, Just came back from my three weeks stay outside of Thailand, still keeping my visa using a single re-entry permit. I came in today (the 17th of June) and the stamp in the passport says it's valid until the 24th of September. So my question is: Do I need to visit the immigration straight away, or just turn up and collect a new stamp at the 24th of September? Thanks in advance, Emil
June 17, 201214 yr Not sure what you're asking. A re-entry permit just maintains the date - permission to stay until - that you already had. It does not add any days onto the date you already had. If you are talking about extending a visa/permission to stay, you would normally do that in the last 30 days before the current date (24 Sept) expires. There is paperwork that will be required, so just 'showing up to collect a new date' won't work. If you are on a multiple entry non immigrant visa that expires on 24 Sept, you can exit Thailand, return before the 24th and get a new permission to stay date. Since you had a re-entry permit, I'd guess that's not your situation, though. Explain what it is you want, and someone can give you a more specific answer. Terry
June 17, 201214 yr You must be on an extension of stay rather than a visa entry of 90 days so you should visit immigration a week or two before September 24 to obtain a new extension of stay. An address report will also be due 90 days from date of entry if you do not leave again.
June 18, 201214 yr Author I'm on an ED student visa, and got it made last year on the 24th of September. Since then, I've got it extended every third month at the immigration office. I made a single re-entry permit in late May and used it to travel to Denmark. Came back three weeks later (yesterday). So, the only date in my passport is the 24th of September this year, where my visa should be valid until. Does that mean, that I'm still on my ED student visa, and need that extended before the 24th of September this year? If so, how long before the 24th would be recommended? Thanks.
June 18, 201214 yr Your re-entry permit would have your previous extension of stay date on it and your new entry would be to that same date if still valid. If not valid you would have only received a 30 day permission to stay. What is the most current stamp in your passport and what was the date on the re-entry permit? if not the same you are no longer on an ED extension of stay. On second reading are you sure you extended your stay every 90 days? Using a new TM.7 and paying 1,900 baht? Or did you just report address using a TM.47? Very different things. If on a one year extension of stay my post 3 is what your need to do.
June 21, 201214 yr Author I don't want this more complicated than it really is............ I got an ED visa last year on the 24th of September. Every third month I've showed up and filed the TM47 for free. I then in May got a single re-entry permit made to use for travelling. Came back to Thailand three weeks after I left. So the only simple question is: What do you do? Go to the immigration now, or wait until a few weeks before the 24th September to get my ED renewed? Let's keep it simple, as the immigration rules are. Thanks.
June 21, 201214 yr You visit immigration 90 days from day of entry (day one) for a new TM.47 report. It appears you may also be able to renew your extension of stay at the same time if you have school documents available in time (immigration accepts up to 30 days early).

June 21, 201214 yr Also the new window for 90 day reporting is 15 days early until 7 days after the 90 day mark so that may also help.
