I have no issues.

Suppose it says more about the member then the reader.

Took me ages to set the camera up and capture this of me typing away on TVF.

Could you put the image up in a Thai shop front window without a barrage of complaints would be a rough guide.

Perhaps you are unaware of the international incidents Thailand has caused with billboard and images in front of stores and on sports days.

The above will give you some idea. I think a lot of people are sensitive about mass murderers being used for fun or play especially if loved ones were murdered by those people. With Stalin or Mao the numbers are staggering and not hard to imagine many people who read Thai Visa might have been victims of their atrocities.

If your avatar is of a living person it might be removed as it's unlikely that they have given permission for the image to be used. We deal with these on a case by case basis. A tasteful family pic is on thing, but some people don't show much discrestion when posting pics of female companions.

Avatars are a very subjective thing. Over the years some avatars that the OP alludes to have been allowed because they are used in a humourous or ironic context. If you aren't sure where that line is then it's best to steer far clear of it.
