I need to supply a translated copy of my passport to the local ampour, the ampour said it needs to be stamped by the MFA (Ministry Of Foreign Affairs) here in BKK, does the MFA do the translation also or do I need to have a company translate it first?

You go to a translation agency and then have it certified by the MFA.

There are several near your embassy an also a few opposite the the MFA, Consular department.

Thanks very much Mario, I take it the MFA consular department is in the MFA on Chaeng Wattana Rd? And NOT in the government complex on Chaeng Wattana Soi 7?

Most translation services will handle the MFA certification for a small additional charge. Saves you slogging across Bangkok for a very routine matter.

Yes the legalization department is in the same Chiang Watanna building as the Thai Passport Office if you need to visit them or do in a hurry but as said above it is likely easier to let translations service take care of it for you..
