baht&sold
Note, try not to over-speculate as this issue has been going round the rumour mill for years so, wouldn't read too much into it (as yet;). Ie; if the quoted "Reit Damri Rd" is a typo for Naresdamri Rd... (from the Hilton, down to the fishing pier?) this account seems a tad ambiguous throughout regardless Source: Bkk post http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/09Jan2006_news06.php -The Senate Justice and Human Rights Committee is preparing to withdraw charges of beach encroachment against 52 villagers in Hua Hin as the villagers have agreed to demolish their buildings and vacate the area. Committee chairman Seri Suwanapanont said his committee would meet with representatives from the Office of the Attorney-General and other relevant agencies on Thursday in order to find a way out for the villagers, whose case is being considered in a court in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Muang Hua Hin municipality mayor Sasiphan Kamolpramote said yesterday that the villagers had agreed to relocate from the beach area along Reit Damri road because they did not want to face fines of up to two million baht per person. The villagers' leaders, mostly owners of restaurants and resorts, told Mr Sasiphan they would immediately dismantle their buildings if there were an order from the Office of the Attorney-General withdrawing the charges. Mr Sasiphan said he would meet with the Senate panel on Thursday.
