June 28, 201214 yr My thai girlfriend has had 4 Tourist visas to the UK over a 4-year period 2008-2011. We are trying to find out about visas that run for 2-years. Is there such a thing as a Partnership visa and can she work in the UK with this type of visa? Any info on how/where to apply would be much appreciated. Many thanks!
June 29, 201214 yr No there isn't such a thing, you could apply for a visa for the purpose of getting married.
June 29, 201214 yr To expand a little bit on the above, for an unmarried partner you need to have been living together in a relationship akin to marriage for the last 2 years. If you are living in the UK and she is living in Thailand and using the tourist visas to visit you, you do not qualify for this visa. With the fiance visa this is valid for 6 months and you need to prove that you will get married within this time, otherwise the visa will be void. She will not be able to work whilst on this visa. The easiest way to get what you want is a settlement visa as spouse, but of course you have to take the step of getting married to qualify for this. A quick review of the pinned topics at the top of the forum will give you a more detailed overview of your visa options. If you are serious about the applcation I would also advise spending some time reading through past topics as there is a wealth of information on all of the visa types included in this forum.
June 29, 201214 yr You would be better off getting married as already advised above the visa is 5 years in total under the new rules from July 09 2012. She can work on a settlement visa
