When laying a marble floor, the edges are butted up tight instead of leaving a joint like with tiles. Im wondering what is used to fill the crack between the pieces of marble?

^^ 1/16th grout line for marble '?' cm thick? I have yet to see a tile setter here in Thailand use a good float. I have seen lots of thin grout sort of mashed into place. YMMV, but I would be very skeptical about really thin grout. Seems like a semi-permanent job for your local tile guy.
