BANGKOK: -- Suspects arrested for their alleged roles in a police examcheating scheme will be required to pay a total of more than Bt100 million in compensation for money spent on tests that had to be scrapped, a Royal Thai Police spokesman said yesterday.

Of the 66 suspects, 53 have turned themselves in, said Pol MajGeneral Piya Uthayo. Three of them are police officers who have been suspended from duty. The compensation demand will be submitted by public prosecutors during a single trial, without the necessity for separate civil lawsuits.

Piya stated again that there was no evidence the exam questions had been leaked, but rather that most of the cheating involved applicants receiving answers through wireless communication tools, or getting others to sit the exams for them. Police have compiled 90 per cent of evidence against the suspects towards a charge of public fraud, he added.

A meeting of senior police investigators yesterday was told of possible cheating in previous government selection exams for district officials, teachers and other civilian officials. The suspicion is based on an important piece of evidence, a notebook seized from key suspect Tuenjai Phongphan, a Si Sa Ket school teacher, containing a large number of names of candidates thought to be her clients, who later passed the exams and became government officials.

The Antimoney Laundering Office is tracking transactions of money between Tuenjai and several suspects, including Wiboolsak Saenjak, whose whereabouts are unknown, with an eye to seizing their assets.

Nationwide exams will be held in two batches, on August 3 and August 5, the former for administrative positions and the latter for posts in crime suppression activities. Piya said the number of exam venues had been reduced by 6,000 rooms in order to minimise the chance of cheating.

Interesting concept, a criminal judge awarding compensation beyond the limits of the penalties as proscribed in the law. As much of a civilian suit is taken deciding the merits of the AMOUNT of the compensation claim, will this judge do the same or accept a figure plucked from the air by some bureaucrat?

If this succeeds, in future cases will the cost of a manhunt be added to a fugitive's penalty?

Name and shame and be damned with the defamation charges that would follow. Unless they list out all of the corrupt incompetant people who are currently in service; these people will be able to buy their way out of trouble and keeps their jobs. The price they need to pay has already been mentioned; 100m baht between them. I assume they will all be put in a room and decided how to split the bill up.

People in civil service (governement, police, teaching etc) who bribe their way into a job believe that bribery and corruption is acceptable and should be the norm. They will continue to enrich themselves this way so will continue to add to the problem.

Ok, the single trial would prevent separate civil lawsuits and probably seal the court records which would protect from more digging into the scheme which could expose more HiSo's and police involved in the scheme. And what you bet the trial will result in the above mentioned negotiated compensation being the only punishment (no jail time)....a.k.a., a not-go-to-jail-card. Then it's off to scheming-up the next scam.

So where are these people going to get 100m Baht from?

Oh, yes. Put them back on duty, once they've been tried.... and let them rake up their dosh from other illegal pursuits, such as fining the innocent etc...

Just not funny! ermm.gif

This is a great "shakedown." They'll have these folks trapped up in the "widened net" for a long time working off their skim.

Weren't they suspicious when everyone except for the person sitting in the middle was a long neck from up north... That they all had Thai names, and they all had the exact same answers?

Never mind. Her husband is a big shot. Won't happen much to her. Her clients might have some problems, but she'll have a solution. But for now she'll have to keep a low profile.

I'd never say that she's working at Thetsaban school.......w00t.gif

Cheating, lying, and stealing has always been a way of life for police, military, and polititions in Thailand. You want to put your kids in top schools? You pay the school administrator tea money. You want to be promoted, you sleep with the boss or give her thousands of baht. You want your phone or cable hooked up sooner you pay off the clerk at the office. You want better grades at your university, you sleep with the teacher or pay up....Thailands lust for money has turned honest people into greedy lying cheating corrupt pigs and it will only get worse because it's considered "acceptable" in todays society. Everything has a price nowadays...and nobody cares and has any dignity anymore. Shameful and disgusting coffee1.gif

I suppose when even a member of the nation's most powerful family cheats at exams what kind of message does it send to the rest of the country?

Want a solution to this without paying or giving up your body, dignity and being 'pressured' to have humiliating sex with some old flock in some armchair, to advance your well deserved promotion or grade? Simple...Blackmail them, Lure them to get them saying the expected words & action, get the evidence in sound & video, expose them publicly. Post in at bulletin, youtube, the internet, everywhere. Shame them, their reputation both in the workplace and society circles, cause disharmony in their family, fallout with their wife etc.. Slowly by slowly you will fall even the biggest tree little by little. They will be fcuked..Both mentally, spiritually & physically. For trying to mess with you in the first place.

Fight fire with fire. There are lots of spy gadgets nowaday available in the market. Expose them. Shame them. Bring them down. Get their indecent proposals in clear video.

Another method is to just do it the Sicilian way & put a Colt 1911 in their face & get your well deserved compensation.

Peace
