Whose Familiar With Transfering Money...

Yes your Thai bank should be able to handle this rather painlessly. SCB uses SWIFT, not sure about the others. As for fees, i don't know about here, but to send from Australia to Thailand is A$30, so maybe prepare yourself for a 900 baht fee and you can feel rather pleased if it's any less.

I was always told money only goes one way, in and not out..I know thats the cynical view.

All banks usually do the SWIFT transfer so you just need the code of your own local bank, but be careful your own bank dont try the trick of also charging for the transfer.

What is your visa, how much do you want to transfer and where did the funds come from (sale of property etc)?

Along these lines, do you have a work permit? Sign up with Bangkok Bank, give them a letter stating where the funds are generated from and you can do an international transfer on line. It takes about 1-2 days to get to my US bank.

I transferred funds for a hotel in Bali in to their bank account. They just sent me the number and I went to the SCB in the night bazaar. Can't remember the cost.

Mind you I have a account there. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
