Carry-On Cats And Air Fees - $200+ Just To Pass Through?

Featured Replies

Hi I know this topic may be similar to many but I'm looking for personal experiences similar to mine. I would like to bring my pet kitty via carry-on to Thailand from Canada. I have no scruples with paying and making sure my pet has proper documents and vaccinations before coming. I'm just curious about fees that other airlines may or may not have for passing through... Air Canada doesnt have an unreasonable carryon charge ($50 or so)... but then ANA has on their website a possible charge starting at $200 for landing in Japan with your pet.. other airlines have other fees listed. I'm just curious to hear of other experiences. Is this fee a one time thing from your first departure (if your flying directly with no overlay except in airports between flights) or will you be charged repeatedly by any airline codeshare partners til you get to your final destination. Again just looking for general information and others experiences... obviously I will call airlines for more direct information if I choose to do so. I would like to bring my kitty but spending up to a grand to get it there seems more stress than asking family to care for it for me :( .. but I don't want to leave him!
